Just dropped $350 in AC playing at the NL table and the MTT and I just feel sick with how it happened and how quick it occurred. I will be breaking from poker for at least a day or 2 as I am down for the month a good chunk now. Fuck this.

A couple hands posted in the NL section but ones that arenly included are when I double up a short stack with J7 against his A7 on a 7T273 board and one guy rivers the same straight when I flopped it with AT on a KQJ7A board and then says I didn't bet enough to bet him off it as I was betting the pot all the way.

Don't you just love it when people say shit like that. Somone said that to me today when I flopped top two in a tourney. I bet the pot on the flop and turn, which left me with T1000 on the river, and he put me all in with his rivered straight. Then he typed to me that I should have bet more to push him off his draw. How much more could I bet?

I should have seen it coming, he was the chip leader and the biggest calling station I have ever seen. He knocked two people out, that I saw, calling all in's with bottom pair. Lucky for him they were both bluffing. I hated that guy and closed the table before I started to educate him.

These people suck, but just keep reminding yourself they make you money.

well, I finished the Poker Stars bonus with more 1/2 limit play where I got beat around but only managed to lose $55 instead of $100+ like it looked like it should have been.

See forum/viewtopic.php?t=4742 for more details.

So I finished the day up $65 due to the bonus but I was down about $70 overall chasing this bonus. I don't know if I ever want to play at that site again, even for the bonus. I would like to play other games but nothing seems to earn the bonus at any kind of speed except limit.

Haven't been playing too much as I wasn't in the mood. I dropped down to PLO $25 as that seems to be the only game I can make money on this month. I played about 8 hours over the last couple days and i'm up only about $40-$45 but it felt nice to win.

Here's a hand history that shows why you have to let hands go in PLO against someone that isn't playing stupid.

I mean really, he was drawing for the Ace only when he could be drawing dead or to a split if I had the A. I always like a nice donation.

I got a little shit going on right now that is just adding up to be a shitload of crappy things happening to me recently so I'll only be playing when I should. Unfortunately, I could really use the money but I don't want to lose more by being stupid about it either.

ran into set over set 3 times playing 50 NL on party. Therefore, I'm down 3 buy ins. You got to be fucking kidding me. Many hands in the NL section.

I love open raising with 33 and getting set over set. This guy sat down for 40 hands playing almost everyone of them and finished up $70+.

I work my way almost all the way back and then lose another set over set hand with some side money in there. Build it back a little more only to lose another set over set and be down 3 buy ins. I can't catch a god damn break recently. Why couldn't this happen 5 months ago when I didn't need the money as much.

Good idea to only play when you "feel" like playing. Bad timing and emotional issues will reek havoc on a bankroll. Of course, you obviously know this...but i'm just posting it because i want the attention.

now just stop losing to set over set :)

you did post a shitload of hands....my god. like 10?

I played over 800 hands tonight and when I lose 3 buy ins, I have a lot of questions. Even on hands that I think I did well but I just doubt myself now.

Its been a while since I posted because I have been taken hostage and gang raped in a closet by anyone sitting at my poker tables recently. July was horrible as I seemed to lose on everything and actually posted my first significant losing month ever. I'm actually embarrassed because it had never happened to me that I was ashamed. I'm coming to terms that it happens and with the help of Kenny, I'm getting my mental stability back.

I would lose set over set a couple times a night, get outdrawn by everything, get no respect for my continuation bets over the period of 3 weeks. I play a sng and lose with KK on a 336 flop to K6 after he called a significant raise preflop and we are all in on the flop. 6 on the river if you couldn't figure it out.

Anyway, Kenny convinced me I am prepared for 100nl so since I do have the money for it. It may not be the smartest thing as money has been rough lately and my living expenses and bankroll and pretty much the same fund with only a part time job supplamenting it. I know I am ready for 100nl but I have always made sure I EARNED my way there through the other levels. I didn't put a tremendous amount of time at the 50nl level but I should be good with the help of Kenny and BTP.

100nl started off well as I was up about $70 in two short sessions and then I lost $170 mainly on no respect, people always hitting hands and one bad push with a draw against a set.

Today, however, was much better. Few hands are in the NL section but here are some nice hands from today. My KK vs AA hand is in the NL section but this time I actually won!

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (8 handed)

Final Pot: $15.50

Results in white below:
MP1 has Ad 7h (one pair, sevens).
Hero has Th Ts (one pair, tens).
Outcome: Hero wins $15.50.

I start off with this one just to show that I actually win some of these sometimes. I played the odds as he could have many hands he missed and he only bet $3.

UTG doesn't show.
Hero has 3h 3d (three of a kind, threes).
Button has Ad Jh (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: Hero wins $151.30.

My only concern was that my call raise on the flop would seem suspicous but it turns out he was a typical TPTK overplayer. YAY.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

UTG ($46.35)
UTG+1 ($113.12)
MP1 ($37.79)
MP2 ($165.22)

Final Pot: $65.50

Results in white below:
Hero has Jh Ah (full house, jacks full of aces).
Outcome: Hero wins $65.50.

I might not have maximized value but I doubt he had anything. I don't like calling raises with AJ but since it was suited, a mini raise and I was in postion, I have to do it. I have to work on being able to play well against raises. This flop was a little better than I thought. I was waiting to see AA with how my luck had been going but not this time for once.

Party Poker (10 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with [Ad], [Ah].
8 folds.

Flop: [5s], [9h], [Kd] (2 players)
SB checks, SB calls 61.35 (All-In).

Turn: [Jc] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: [Qc] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot:

Results in white below:
SB has As Kc (one pair, kings).
Hero has Ad Ah (one pair, aces).
Outcome: SB wins .

You know, it seems everytime I have AA, all of broadway eventually shows up. Before the chips slid my way, I just kept mumbling "please be AK, please be AK"

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

Hero ($102.25)
Button ($97.50)
SB ($136.75)

Flop: ($7) [9d], [7d], [4d] (7 players)
SB checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, UTG+2 checks, MP1 checks, MP2 checks, Hero bets $5, SB folds, BB folds, UTG+1 folds, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds.

Turn: ($12) [2s] (2 players)

River: ($12) [7s] (2 players)

Final Pot: $12

Results in white below:
MP2 has 8h 8c (two pair, eights and sevens).
Hero has 5d Ad (flush, ace high).
Outcome: Hero wins $12.

Maybe I should have checked the flop but I figure since I'm last, maybe someone has something. Even worse is that someone disconnected and everyone saw that I bet with the nuts.

Finally

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed)

UTG calls $1, 2 folds, MP1 raises to $3, 2 folds, CO calls $3, 1 fold, Hero (poster) calls $2.50, 1 fold, UTG calls $2.

Flop: ($13) [5d], [Ad], [9d] (4 players)
Hero checks, UTG checks, MP1 bets $8, CO folds, Hero raises to $20, UTG folds, MP1 folds.

Final Pot: $41

Results in white below:
No showdown. Hero wins $41.

Nice to win a pot with aggression. He just types after "WTF? Everytime!"

I was up $212 today and $100+ overall over 1000 hands of 100nl. If I can keep from doing something stupid, I should do well. Puts everything i perspective when you make pretty much a week's salary of a regular part time job in 2 hours.

Hand #1. You have to raise to protect your pocket tens in position there. 99 and up should be instant raises with 1 limper in front on the button...77 and 88 should be strong candidates for a raise as well. If the blind flopped a small two pair or a jack..you would have been pissed.

Hand #2. IMO you should just call the button's raise there on the flop. There's not much to scare you on that board. With that call and then reraise, you make it obvious you hold a set. (to me anyway.) I would have folded AJ to you easily. The good thing is...people on party suck :)

Hand #3. raise less on the river possibly? He's throwing out a blocking bet and it looks like he won't call very much more.

Hand #4. I bet you were scared shitless. Glad it held for once.

Hand #5. In postion I like your bet. With that many limpers..someone may be slow playing a lower flush. Build the pot baby!

Hand #6. Raise more. You want to get all of your chips in the middle right on the flop, when your draw has the best odds. Also your huge overraise might look like a bluff...AQ /AJ might call you. Especially if they hold a diamond. If he has AK he will almost defiently call ,and you get all his money in before a diamond scare card hits.

I think you played well on all of these hands. You're obviously a winning player on this limit. Just a few minor things improvements to up that BB/100 as much as possible. :)

I wouldn't be worried so much about it being seen that you bet the nuts,. If you bet less than nuts strong too. If you don't bet the nuts wtf do you bet? I save slowplaying for special canidates that it is most effective against, a bunch of limpers that one of them might take a very bad card off the top with the loan K or Q and lose way too much on the river if it hits on a later street is a fine time to bet the nuts, you never know when one of those yahoos have a set or even better a dead flush with 93d or some junk. Heck, I bet the nut draw the same as the nuts and a three high flush just as strong, so betting the real nuts is good at least for me. I haven't really played party, only read about the catholic friday they have there seven days a week, it can't ever be a bad play to bet your hand.

Worse case scenario they see you bet the nuts against aware opponents (unlikely) and you pick up a bunch of small pots with bluffs and middle pair and bottom pair raised or bet on the button wins more than it should. I make a good deal of my money based on the fact that my opponents are too weak to call my position bets. If I break even on these I'm happy, but if I'm getting away with them proper I'm making an extra chunk of change per hour, the tighter they think I am the more likely continuation and position bets are to work and the more small pots I'm likely to get uncontested. Poor seating on my opponents breaks this flow of stealing and winning with aggression than I like, good seating means an extra 5 PTBB/100.

well, its been about a week at 100nl (which I haven't played too much of) and put in some PLO25 on party and guess what? I've already pretty much made back all that I lost last month. Now to keep going and make some real money.

I have hands to post but I'm at work and can't post them. I will later.

ok, i said i would have hands to post so if anyone was waiting for them, here they are. Since I haven't updated in a while, there are a lot and since some are omaha (which the converter doesn't work for) they won't be neat

Remember how I always say min raise = monster. Ha! not this time. I read him and just trying to see if his jack was good so I popped him nice on the turn hoping he had AJ or JT and wouldn't fold. Either way, nice pot from the BB.

Kenny said i should have pushed preflop but I decided to see a good flop and catch him. Looks like he may not have much so I may have maximized on this hand playing this way.

That summarizes my August so far. I have some hands to post in the Omaha and NL sections but this month has been good to me. I was down almost $500 last month but I'm already up $550 this month so its looking good.

Well, I'm killing the PLO games so I decided to stick with it. I haven't really been in the mood to deal with the stress of 100nl as $25 plo just seems so stress free as its so easy now (for the most part). Here are some hands

Here's a marginal hand as I've been trying to take advantage when I feel I'm ahead. Its added some more variance but I think that I get good enough reads every once in a while to do this. If I play these well, I won't be missing out on all the value i've lost in the past

I don't slowplay in PLO so this wasn't slowplaying as much as its being smart. I felt he would keep betting so I waited for a safe turn card and decided to take my chances then. He may be freerolling me, he may have a set or a flush draw or both. Either way, I have the nuts on the turn and I'll take my chances.

This guy was just in a charitable mood. I was hoping someone else would come for the ride on the turn. My call must have seemed suspicious but nothing much else i could do to try to get someone else in. He was drawing to 1 out on the flop but still gave me his whole stack. Love it.

I got carried away with this one. I figured that the 2 didn't help him because if he had me beat, he had to have me beat the whole way. I just couldn't see him slowplaying a set like that so I made the dumb call. I bet just the right amount to get me to call but I should have laid it down. This is the first time in recent memory that I overplayed 2 pair like this.

Just had to dodge the spade and I was good. Got to love people putting in their whole stacks on a flush draw and a pair they know can't be good.

Now, I know I am not a great omaha player. I just may seem to be next to these guys. It seems so easy to play like this and make just make consistent money. I don't have the same luck of the $50 levels so I just stick to this so I can have fun. I make money and its not stressful. Mainly, I'm playing my own cards, not theirs and I can still be successful so I just love it.

On another note, my friend won a tourney at the Taj and won $4300. My roommate was with him and had convinced him to play. Halfway through the tourney, he was chip leader and told my friend (who was out) that if he won, he would give him $1000. Well, he never lost his chip lead and apparently dominated it. Good to his word, he gave my housemate $1000. He's a stand up guy like that. Unfortunately, if I had skipped work and gone with them, he would have given each of us $750.

Oh well. On the good side, the two of them are taking me and a couple others out to Ruth Chris's on Sunday night, which if you haven't heard of it, it is a great steak house. Can't complain. I've been helping both of them with their poker game for a while but he is just a naturally good tourney player because he is aggressive and willing to gamble and push his chips. I'm a cash game specialist but I can hold my own in a tourney. In a cash game, I will pick him apart but all I can do is hold my own for the most part in a tourney. I still come out on top just because I can adjust better and he gambles too much. Either way, I'm happy for him but of course i'm jealous as I've never pulled that kind of win or even close to it.
