This journal sucks. What a waste of space.

Vinny: Why are we stopped here? What's wrong with that spot?
Tyrone: It's too tight.
Vinny: Too tight? You could land a jumbo f*cking jet in that.

Well, I have returned from a relaxing and surprisingly pleasant weekend with my parents, the highlights of which were drinking a lot with my dad and setting a personal record on the local chip&putt course. Sounds exciting, eh?

In other news, I was forced to withdrawl from ice's staking arrangement due to my own bankroll concerns. Pretty bummed about that, because I think it's gonna be a profitable thing for all involved, but what can ya do?

Another month has come to an end, and at first glance, I'm very happy with my July results. Problem is that I only really had a period of 2 weeks, maybe 2 and a half, where I was happy about my playing. The last 10-12 days of the months, I was in a slump...only partially due to bad cards...and I didn't play nearly enough.

I know I say this every month...actually, every week...but I REALLY need to book 30-40 hours per week. But this time, I'm gonna back it up! If I don't manage 40 hours over this coming week (starting Monday, August 1st), I will send $5 to every single person who has posted in this journal at any point up until this post. Granted, I could be a scumbag and just claim I played 40 hours whether I did or not, but this really means something to me, so if I don't make my goal, a flurry of fivers it is! Hell, even if I do make my goal, I may feel generous depending on how the week goes.

Anyway, I suppose I'll wrap this up with some numbers and stats for July. All taken right from PokerTracker, all numbers are for 3-6 LHE.

Profit numbers :

Amount won : $2003.19
Hours played (real hours, not table-hours) : 76.23 <---pretty dismal
Actual Hourly rate : $26.28
BB/hour/table : 1.51 <---i'd absolutely love to be able to keep that up

Other numbers :

VP$IP : 21.01 <---definitely too high, would like something in the 18-19 range
VP$IP from SB : 27.63 <---probably too high, but a lot of that is steal-raises
Preflop Raise % : 12.32 <---heh heh heh
Won $ When saw flop : 39.15%
Went to SD : 35.61
Won $ at SD : 50.00
Folded to river bet : 24.90 <---looks quite low, am I paying off too much?

Flop Aggression : 3.67
Turn Aggression : 2.82
River Aggression : 1.37

And that's that. I'm normally not much of a numbers guy, but I decided to post a whole bunch of PT numbers where I have no idea what standard should be (like "Won $ at SD" or "Folded to river bet")...I'm hoping some limiteers will respond with either comments or comparisons...thanks in advance!

Hey TW,

Looking at your win rate, if you could manage 30 real hours per week ~ 120 hours per month you could be making over 3K / Month  . Maybe that will motivate you to get your hours in.

Good luck :!:

TW, I really like your journal... it cracks me up. Keep up the great work!

The one thing I can't get over is that you and a few other full-timers always bellyache about how hard it is to put in the hours -- I cackle every time I hear you FTers whine like little biatches. As such, I suggest a challenge.

Challenge
Four other part-time players who have full-time jobs and I will challenge you and four other "full-time" poker players. The challenge is to see you can log the most hours over a one week period. FTers have to log 1.5x the PTer average or more.

Dates
If it can be worked out, August 8-14 (M-Su) would be ideal.

Stakes
As there is no really way to verify the results, I would prefer this to be a mostly pride/shame thing, but here are a few suggestions:
- Losers make $10 donation to BTP
- Losers have to put some kind of "loser" tag in their sig (although "Forum Jackass" is hard to beat)
- Losers have to ham up some donk posts (e.g., should I fold AA preflop here?) on a well-read site with lots of people who like to flame (e.g., 2+2 or FCP) under their real names.

I am sure other people can come up with more interesting stakes... feel free to make suggestions. The ultimate prize would have been to have the everyone pitch in $50 and the winners get 1/5 share of Iceman's stock, but I think we're a bit late for that.

Details
Each day players will post the following PT info:
- Total hours at table (this is the competition
- Total table hours
-Game types played (e.g., 25NL, 25PLO8, etc.)
- # of tables (e.g., 4 or 2-3)
- VP$IP
- Net gain/loss
- BB/100

So what do you think?

In case my tone isn't obvious, this is a fun, friendly challenge to motivate you FTers to perform to your full potential. :)

Actually, I think TW spends an awful lot of time recovering from the previous night's adventures... and that may include some of the spanking that bensberg referred to. :P

As for the challenge, let me PM a few people to see if they are interested. I can say now that I would love for Iceman and Monk to be on my team (if they are interested). IIRC, KennyG has had some problems getting in the hours (is that correct?), so he might be a good candidate for your team. Any other suggestions for team members?

Also, do you think we could/should get a sticky somehwere to post udpates?

Well, since i know TW cant afford to
a) lose $10 and
b) Get flamed anymore than he already does,

Ill joinup the FTers- if theyll have me of course. I arrived at the casino at 8pm friday and left at 6am sunday. Can i count that towards my week?

It may be that MK doesn't struggle to put in hours, but since he struggles with every other aspect of human life, I think we can let him in anyway! Piers is one who has said he hasn't been getting enough hours in...even though he has other stuff goin on, I think we should count him as full-time. Bri, Nawton and starstealer are all part time guys that you could check with.

As you might've noticed, I've mostly just mentioned limit players...not trying to discriminate, it's only because NL sucks :D
