O/8 Limit

Postby The A Train » Thu Aug 04, 2005 10:12 pm

Have been playing a lot of O/8 limit lately on Party and have been doing surprisingly well for someone very new to the game. (I think).
I have a PT +5BB/100 hands so far. Is this a good return? What have you other O/8 limit players been getting? I have only tried the .50-$1 games so far.

Ah, I play like Cappelletti too. Bit less aggressive, perhaps, but IMO his style is slightly too aggro for the typical online calling-station fest. So perhaps you're just waiting for variance to kick in  or maybe i'm just waiting for it to kick out...

Thank you for your input gentlemen. Much appreciated. Will let you know how I go. I keep looking for Limit O/8 hands on this site but seem to only find Pot limit O/8. It would be good if we had a separate area for each variation so we can find what we are looking for without sifting through PLO high and PLO 8/b. Just a thought.

A-train,

I agree with you that it would be nice to have a limit O/8 section, but the reality is that there's just not enough Omaha players to fill two sections of it. As it is, Monk's all over pretty much any Omaha question you have, and there are plenty of other really knowledge players who will respond to any limit post made in the Omaha section.

Drade,

Do you multitable and if so how many tables do you play at once? I play two tables most of the time with good results. Whenever I try to play three it seems to affect my game and impact on my results. Maybe with practice I can get it up to 3 or 4 tables.

I generally play 2. I don't keep up with multiple tables nearly as well as some of these guys. Occaisionally I'll go to three for a short time, but it affects my game a lot. And over three I end up just giving money away. I like 2 because there's usually enough action to keep me focused, but not so much that I can't focus on both tables, take notes, and get a feel for the players.

Some of these guys play upwards of 4 tables. I have no idea how they do it. I'd say do what works for you. If you can get comfortable with three tables, then play three. If it doesn't work for you, stick with 2.

If you want to ask any limit O8 questions then I might be able to offer some advice; I think i'm a better limit O8 player than a PLO8 player, I reckon i'm pretty average at PLO8 to be honest. PLO and limit O8 are probably my two best games, IMO.

I know GooperMC has played some limit O8 too, I think maybe JDLush also? They're both good players. I'm sure a lot of the other players on this site play a bit; I don't because I make more money in the pot limit games, but that doesn't mean I don't like limit.

Thanks Gooper,
My rate has dropped down to about 3BB/100 hands. Will be interested where it is when I have a few more thousand hands. Still making basic mistakes but find it to be an easy way to work off the Party bonus.
