B&M $100 buy in. Blinds are 1/2

A bad LAG player with an $80 stack open raises for $10 in MP and its folded to me on the button with KK (I have $120).

Note on the player: I've seen this guy make lots of raises, sometimes with middle pocket pairs and other times with AT, AJ, AQ. He overplays a lot of hands and rarely folds middle pair. He also cold calls a lot of preflop raises.

I raise to $40 and it's folded back to him - he calls.

Flop: A-Q-8 rainbow. He leans forward, grabs a stack of chips, starts to put them out and then looks at me for a second and says, "check"

What's your play?

Well, going by what I've seen and read about tells, he is doing this to keep you from betting. He wants to appear threatening. Strong means weak, weak means strong. Unless this guy likes to be clever and know this, its likely he has someone like KQ and will call the all in but doesn't want to. He's only got $40 left so I can't see the money NOT going into this pot either by you putting him in or him pushing in on the turn on a bluff or a real hand. If you are going to call this all in, you might as well do it yourself and there is a chance he will fold. So I'm likely pushing him all in.

Personally, against a player like youve described, I would just flat call the $10 raise. If I was in MP I would reraise to isolate, but on the button, I would just call.

On to the hand....Theres $80 in the pot and he has $40 left. Put him all in and prey he doesnt have an ace. If he did, he most likely wouldve put it in him self already.

I agree with everyone here. All-in and hope he doesn't have an ace.

With the read that you have on this guy overplaying his mid PP there is no reason for you not to push him all in, you are going to call his all in if he bets so why not be the one to push. This was not the flop you were looking for obviously with your kings so you are ok with him folding in this position. As Briachek correctly called, that playing with chips is an attempt to show you stregnth so that you wont bet and he can see some free cards.My guess is that you are ahead and you opponant is drawing at 2 outs either KQ or a mid PP.

Well, I thought for a little while and decided that I had to push in. He immediately calls and shows AJo. I get no help and lose a nice pot. This guy thought that AJ was a BIG hand, lol. I sat at this table for 8 hours and never got the chance to bust him. What a pitty.....

Looking back on the hand, maybe I should have just called on the button, but I hate doing that. When I know I have the best hand, I like to push pretty hard and not pussy foot around.

No the raise here is the right play, you are a 2:5 to 1 favorite going into the flop any time you can get a Loose Agressive plater to pot commit himself with that big an underdog you are making the right play. IMHO, the play after the flop is also right in my opinion. You are getting 3:1 money on the remaining $40 he has, if he is a bad enough player to call just once out of 4 times with a pocket pair you break even, and you are getting a positive EV from his fold equity.
