Chips stacks added to logo

Postby tetsuo » Sun Jan 02, 2005 11:56 am

As you may have noticed, I've added some chips to the logo both on the forum and main page.

Since they use some DHTML layering, some users might have problems (but I hope not). It looks good to me in Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Please do me a favor and email admin@livepokerforum.com if you think it doesn't look 'right' in your browser.

For those of you that are interested, the chip stacks were modeled and rendered in Maya, which is the same application used to render Lord of the Rings battle scenes and loads of the animated movies that are around today!

Cool idea, but can you make the stacks look more vertical? They look like theyre about to fall.

Yeah, they're supposed to look like that :D A bit of warped perspective.

Seriously, I can't muck about with this stuff much more - me and this other guy have spent loads of time on it already.

It gives the site a bit more of a 'look', anyways.

I think it looks good. One thing though is when a page loads, the logo is first to appear and the colors look weird before the rest of the page shows, like the shadow of the chips and the outline of the web address. IMO, it might be better to have the logo load after the rest of the page if possible. Just my two cents.

I see that, too, using IE6.
It may be unavoidable, due to the restrictions of IE's parser. (It looks funky until I agree to run the scripts)
This is almost not worth complaining about, though. It looks good once loaded.
Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

I'll look into this soon - I can probably just hide the div until the rest of the page has loaded.

Thanks for the firefox suggestion. I use it all the time now and love it.
FWIW...using firefox I still have the issue of the BTP logo covering the links at the top of the page.

Right, I think I may have a solution that I will try to implement tonight.

I'll post to this thread when I've done it and ask whether it has fixed the problem.

If you're gonna play trash, expect it to get taken out.

(I hate those people who quote themselves, but that's one of my original lines).
