Pokertracker and shorthanded NL play

Postby Molina » Tue Nov 09, 2004 9:35 pm

I play 6 handed NL exclusively, plus a little PLO, I own pokertracker and am very impressed by it. Regarding the autorate feature i've heard about the Drivet and Bison parameters and have had a look at other peoples formulas but none incorporate shorthanded and NL, where more hands will be played and generally more money will be put in, along with increased expected win %'s.

I've searched 2+2 which has billions of posts that don't seem to help and the PT forum doesn't seem to have it covered.

any help/recommendations appreciated

One of our members (excession) has a small amount of information detailing how he autorates for low stakes NLHE.

I know this guy is a BIG PT fan, so you might want to email him as well.

The Power of PT

Postby BKAZ » Thu Dec 02, 2004 8:57 am

I have recently discovered the truly awesome power of PT and the GT screen. Thanks to this site (Excessions articles) I began using the GT screen.

Even without a family of autorate rules for short handed play you can still use GT to see who is playing too many hands VP$IP and who calls to the bitter end (Don't Bluff these guys) and who is tight and folds before the showdown (Go After these guys unless they play back at you).

I am a novice but I feel my game improving with the help of advice and tools I learn about at this site.

http://www.pokertracker.com/forum/viewt ... t=autorate I found these rules here, not sure what I think of them yet... I am on a new computer and haven't moved my old pt data, actually not sure if i am going to or just start a new database for the new year. took me forever to write pat to get the license for this machine so might as well just start with a clean slate.

according to the excession rules i'm semi loose aggressive aggressive, by the rules found at the pt forum I'm semi-loose aggressive passive but my sample is pretty small. I've also been experimenting with raising more hands from a smaller stack than I normally would and sometimes auto-betting a raised preflop isn't the best play, so I can clearly recall times where I have been aggressive and had to shut it down after the flop. The difference isn't really surprising, and I have noticed my play floating between both, with more emphasis on the semi-loose aggressive passive as I have been at several tables where I could draw with odds and have seen more turns and rivers than normal.

I thought this set of rules was for shorthanded limit but I could be wrong.

Over the next 1000 hands or so, the players that I'm pegging as rocks is coming up as tight passive passive, with the exception of one rock that is showing up as tight aggressive nuetral. I still haven't had a true "maniac" show up in the autorate even though there was a wonderful one last night. I think maybe monkeying around with some of the variables to up what it requires to be a calling station in a six handed game and general loose to tight ratio might make it more accurate. The autorate feature is new to me, when I understand it better I think I will play with the rules.
