Please leave some money for me when I get to those limits in the Gaming Club. I would hate to have the fish all running on empty by the time i got there, just because of one particular iceman!

That's just ridiculous. I would have never, in a million years, put either of them on a set, much less BOTH of them. Wow. I need to cash out of pokerstars and play on Gaming Club NOW.

Had a busy day at work so I didn't see this until now. Given the flop play is constrained, I would have played it quite similar as you did.

However, when I flop the nut str8 in a multiway pot, I like to lead out and bet it for several reasons:
1) With only one player left to act behind you (esp an unknown player) your giving a chance for it to get checked around and free card to fall that could beat you
2) For me this is the biggest one when I have the nuts, it gives them a chance to re-raise you - telling you that they are strong and there is a possiblity during a later betting round you can get all of your chips in the middle.

Actually a possible reason they never re-raised is your check raise on the flop - which usually sets off alarms bells in their heads, and in that situation with their being a possible str8, just calling isn't a horrible move, especially for the guy on the button. He's got a probable best hand, but not the nuts in an aggressive multi-way pot. He still got a good chunk of his stack in the middle with 4th nuts on the river.

It may be a bit conservative, but calling isn't a horrible way to play it.

VNH though

Question...

Postby Danhdan » Thu Jan 06, 2005 9:21 am

When is it my turn to have this happen to me? I wanna get in line.

The only thing you could be legitimately worried about was [Kh] [Th] . Really strange that neither raised along the way.

[quote="iceman5"]I dont agree with overbetting the pot or wanting to win it right now. Why? Im ahead. I dont want him to fold. I just want him to pay to draw.
I agree with Mad Genius about betting 2/3 pot which is what I did.

The pot is now $67. I bet $45 and they both called.
Remember, the board shows [Jh][9c][7h][4d].

Ice,

I disagree with underbetting the pot with the presence of 2 players in the hand because in doing so you give the 3rd player proper implied odds to chase a flush. However, I do agree with you that overbetting the pot substantially is the wrong decision as welll.

Pot (67) + your bet (45) + 1st call (45) = 157:45 or 3.5:1

Not the correct odds for a call, but certainly close enough to be profitable with the implied odds of winning anything with a river bet. (Someone will call the river bet with a pot this big and these chip stacks)

I certainly agree with the $45 bet against one opponent.

On a sidenote, against one player (esp. the flush chaser) I will check the river with that board a lot of times. You stand to win more by inducing a busted flush to bluff at this size pot than value betting him.
