Does anyone play these regularly? Or can someone explain the appeal of them?

The only time I've played in a casino It was a £10 PLH tourney and was annoyed and shocked at how for the first 30 mins at least 3 or 4 people were all in pre flop and were just constantly rebuying. I know the starting stacks were low compared to the blinds but I've never been back since.

Anyway, when online why play a rebuy rather than a freezeout? The only thing I know about rebuys is the concept that it's generally to +EV to rebuy, but if anyone has any other knowledge on them I'd be curious.

The plus EV lays in the ridculous high price pool compared to the buy in.
You can win large amounts on a low buy-in. You can win with different strategies.

Some people will go all in with any 2 cards for the first levels and waste some buy ins on them. That can be a winning strategy because you need to get a big stack before the rebuy period is ended. They see it as a $60 or plus buy in and will get called when they have good hands and then sit on their 10K stacks.

Also you can get a big stack on only 2 buy ins when you call these guys.

And they are a lot of fun.

Rebuys are generally appealing because of the money. Not to mention it's easier for a better than average player to build a stack. You've got people moving in with flush draws/gut shots/ and lord knows what else. So when you have the best of it you're more likely to build your stack and quickly.

I think the better players stand a better chance of winning in rebuys. I like to play them and play them often online on Stars.I can put in 25 bucks and win 5-6k. Well worth the 6 or so hours it will take.

Like anything in poker though it boils down to money. With rebuys there just seems to be more money involved. Don't play them unless you're prepared to rebuy and add on though.
