Just a horrid day on the tournaments. This one cat must have went all in or called about 10 times as a big dog and won every hand. He had like 60K chips and the second place person at the time had about 12K. It was sick. In the 3.00 rebuy I raised all-in with A4o from the BB after a late position player min raised to 1600. Blinds 400-800. I had about 8K left and was looking to pick up his money, he had about 16K and called with J10o and flopped a damn Jack so I was out in 13th, 10 paid. I don't know but I am not risking half my stack against an all in with J10o three from the money.

A lesson for the new folks in poker. When shit is not right at the house just don't play poker until it's over. For whatever the reason the woman is in some sort of foul mood and I in the few occasions I have played under such circumstances always wish I would have just packed it in. Well today I am packing it in. Did manage to make a small score in the 24 and 36 ring games at Noble to up the winnings a little so all was not for loss today.

There was a Minnesota something or other on Tropics Poker that played horribly. I hope that wasn't her  as she was the impetus of most of the games that did get started there. I don't remember much about anyone getting the better of me at that site although she very well could have beaten me out of a few dollars at some time or another while there. If that is her you make sure you tell her she is always welcome to track me down if she wants a little more heads up action

The Big Lebowski: Are you employed, sir?
The Dude: Employed?

A pretty good early morning session. I made one really shitty play in PLO8 that I can't believe I did but it happened and cost me most of a stack. That said, I don't believe that I can lose at that game over any length of time because they play so badly at the 25 and 50 PL levels.

Piers,

How easy do you find changing mindsets when in a session you might play 10/20 and 1/2 to clear bonus and also 6max as well. Is it not a bit too easy to bring you're 1/2 game into a 10/20. I know you're generally fairly tight, but just that it's generally more correct to make some questionable call downs in 1/2 because the play is so poor and in a bigger game.

Plus, how hot is Venezuela?

Depending on where you're at it can be pretty damn hot. Caracas is not too bad as far as heat goes though, usually 27-30 degrees, not much variation throughout the year.

I really don't have too much of a problem changing gears as I move around limits and games. I think it is probably just the opposite in making 'questionable' call downs. I make alot more call downs at the higher limits than I do at the lower limits. Players at the higher limits tend to try to play a little more fancier but many times their stories don't have a basis so I look them up. At the lower limits they generally have what they are representing. I also play a couple of notches tighter in the lower limit games where you usually are going to have to show down a hand to win. Personally my game is much more geared to a higher limit game because I like to splash around on occasions given the right line up and I play very well post flop. The reason that I am still a little on the tight side online is that I lose alot of information by not observing the person physically as in a B & M setting. When I play live I am very adept at picking up things that make my game a totally different beast. If you read my thoughts on playing on the internet and then saw me playing in a live game you would never suspect the two people were the same.

The only time that I can come close to this type of play online is when I am only playing 1 table. When I do that after just a little while seeing the cards my opponents are playing and their betting patterns there is just something innate that kicks in and I can fairly closely decipher what my opponents are thinking even without the physical tells. Perhaps just some sixth sense that I have picked up over the years but it generally leads me to the right choices. Playing multiple tables most of the time I just don't have that ability functioning at top speed so for the most part I rely on past experiences to size up a situation and act accordingly and likewise tighten up to somewhat counter the loss of information that is a biproduct of multitabling.

I agree with piers. Once you hit $5/$10 and higher there are a lot of players with fancy play syndrome and big egos. At a lot of tables people will fight tooth and nail for every pot and you simply cannot let yourself get run over (I am speaking mostly of shorthanded games). You can't fold every time you're raised on the turn and only have 1 pair.

Note to self: When Piers raises your BB don't fold A5o so fast, he prolly just has Q8s

An ok early morning session. Didn't get alot of justice in the PLO8 game as I hit some huge hands and then had to split the pot when the lows got there. If you like folding as much as I do then PLO8 is the game for you  Got another 210 raked hands to clear the first Empire bonus.
