Week 1 Results: Full time and 4 tabling

Postby kennyg » Sun Jan 09, 2005 4:07 am

I had a previous post in this section about playing 40 hours a week, while 4 tabling. Reason being, I need the money and may bankroll needs to grow. Here are the results and some thoughts from week 1: jan 2-8th

.50/1.00 NL on Prima Poker
48 sessions
26 winning sessions
6583 total hands

+$940.49
+$28.27 an hour
+14.28 win rate/100 hands

33.27 hours
MT ratio 3.62

VP$IP 14..48 %
Won $ when seeing flop: 35.62%
PF raise 3.96 %
Folded to river bet: 70.21%
aggression factor: 3.27 (that's quite high isn't it??!)

best three hands in order: 33, AKs, AA

Extras: +$100 bonus unlocked

Obviously this was a very good week. I played every single day of the week. I only had two losing days. Sunday and saturday :) They were both short sessions...and saturday I was only down because I accidentally called a monster raise in a hand I would never play.

My VP$IP is a 14.48% which is 10 points lower then when i was playing two tables!!! 10 points!!!! That is monster....I guess I'm pretty damn tight. Playing 4 tables, you just can't screw with a lot of hands because you don't have the time since so many other hands are going on.

My bb/100 has dropped a good 10 points as well. This is more then made up for since I'm making about $10 more per hour then I used to, but still it confuses me. I feel I'm playing my best poker, and even though I can't focus in on each table 100% like I used to...I didn't think it would drop that much. Oh well..live and learn!

I didn't quite reach my 40 hour goal. I would have, but one day I couldn't log on to Gaming Club until like 11pm...so that will kill your hours. Still it's just an excuse but I'm not gonna worry about it too much. I'm thinking I will shoot for 35 hours next week. That seems more realistic for me. I get sick of poker and 40 hours may just be too much. Besides, if I can keep my hourly rate around $25 at .50/1.00, then that's fine and dandy. I really do have to force myself to play though....I don't want to play all the often, but I know I have to. Poker must be one of the easiest jobs in the world and still I'm a lazy bum lol. I will say, one thing that helped me tremdenously was having a friend push me for hours. It's good to know other people have to put in time too, even though they don't want to.

Well, I guess that's it for now. Please leave some comments on how you think I'm doing, and how I can improve etc. If you want any other kind of stats let me know and I"ll be happy to share them with you.

Kenny,

It's great to hear you are having a lot of success. It looks like you should at least be able to maintain this pace given that you are 4-tabling and playing full-time. Stick to it, and really try to fit all those hours in. I myself am working on a schedule that includes playing a few HU matches, a couple MTTs, and occasionally some ring games and SnGs. So far my results have been favorable since the New Year, although I dropped a couple hundred today.

Keep us posted on how you are doing as I am very interested to hear about your results.

EDIT: I have been meaning to ask, but where in NC are you? Anywhere near the Raleigh/Durham area?

Thanks for the support Mad Genuis! It really is interesting playing poker full time...i'ts much different then playing for fun and that's what I'm trying to make people understand. Trying to plug in all those hours gets annoying, but you have to make the money :) I hope your new year treats you well. As for me...I think it's my time! :)

BTW, I'm in western NC...about an hour from Charlotte. My brother goes to Duke law and plays some poker over in Durham.

Kenny, not to sound like a know-it-all but last week you said your win rate was 23 and asked what anyone thought you could sustain playing 4 tables instead of 1 or 2.

I said......." I know youre damned good so I would shoot for 15BB / 100 hands. Avg of 2.5 tables because theres not always enough tables going and sometimes youre in between changing tables or something.

Thats $22.50 / hr."

Youre now at 14.28BB / 100 hands so I'd say I was pretty close. Your hourly rate is higher than I predicted but my prdiction was based on not always being able to play 4 tables. Whats your MT rate now? About 3?

Yes you were correct! It actually would have been right at 15 but my last session I lost some money..ahh well..I tried!

You were incorrect about a MT ratio of 2.5 however. I actually have it listed up there...but my MT ratio is 3.62. Very, very high. Finding tables to play on hasn't been difficult at all. They def. have a lot more players then they did last year. Prima is starting to take off. At least, in the NL side of things. There aren't too many limit games to be found.

I hope I can keep this up!! I'm setting my target goal for $4k this month. Lets see what happens.

4k would be tremendous. Great start! If I can clear 2k this month in my spare time after my bad december i'll be very happy.

Keep it up!
