I raised the flop as this guy had these stats:

VPIP: 33%
PFR: 10%
PFA: 7.5
WtSD: 8%

I figured his high PFR% meant he didn't necessarily have a higher pair than mine. His PFA meant he would be betting the flop no matter what. It was a small bet which I thought could mean AK/Q or similar. And his WtSD% is very low so I thought he would fold unless he had a higher hand that could beat mine.

Was my thinking OK on this hand and do you think I played it OK?

A lot of times these guys have high PFA numbers because they put out a small bet on any flop. If that's the case, you have to pay attention to what they normally do when someone comes over the top. If they typically fold, or call and then fold to a turn bet, then you know they're serious when they come over the top.

I wish PT had numbers for how people respond when raised on the flop.

Nortonesque - I agree with this point but I felt that that his PFA combined with his low WtSD indicated he knew how to fold a hand.

If im wanted to find out if he was just bluffing a smaller re-raise would have worked - there is no draw to worry about. Now you are virtually pot committed. 7.5 PFA is ultra-aggressive - he will push with nothing with that sort of maniacal rating

You've only $11 left and the pot would be $41 if you called - if he has 88,99 or is on a bluff (or of course you spike a T) you take it down. I think I might have called even if only for table image here...

First off, with a low unconnected flop like that I don't think it is out of the question for a strong overpair to bet something like half the pot. I'd probably bet $4 myself, so I don't think $3 is out of the question.
Second, I think calling here is a terrible play. Calling is weak and you are likely going to face a bigger bet than half the pot on the turn, and now the pot is $12. Say he bets $8 here. It not basically costs you your stack to make any kind of a strong raise. I think it is really important to make your raises earlier in the hand to figure out where you are at before the pot gets too large. Even though there is no draw you certainly don't want to do something like min raise him here. Making it $8 or $9 to go would probably have been enough if he has 2 overcards.
You definitely want to lay that down when he comes over for all his chips on a board like that though, good fold.
