Keep this journal going. I play 3 or 4 tables at once and struggle with my reads at times. I would love to hear how you progress 8 tabling. I know that I couldn't do it but I do hope that you succeed. Good luck and keep on posting.

Sorry for the lack of posts. I have now put together a little script that automates everything to save me time and hopefully get me motivated to post every day :) I'm going to try hard ;) All of my results for the lack of posts are above in case if you want to check them out and to prove my totals are correct ;)

I've also put a lot of time helping PokerAce Josh enhance PokerAce HUD as well as beta test Prima for him. We came up with a new stat called 'Aggression Frequency' which I believe is much more accurate than 'Aggression Factor'.. I also helped him optimize his SQL statements to increase performance. If you are still using GT+ or even worse, Playerview, you better check out as it blows both away. It even supports Prima now (and I know a lot of BTP'ers love Prima). Anyways, enough with pimping PAH even though it deserves it :D

So far so good IMHO. I feel like I am playing better than ever. Today wasnt the best of days, I couldnt catch a draw and everyone seemed to be sucking out on me which hasnt happened much over the past few days, hence the higher win rate. The Poker Grader results show that my potential money won was much higher than my actual amount won thanks to all the suckouts :( I also didnt feel quite as sharp today since I havent played in 2 days. I made a few costly mistakes which I usually dont make if I'm in the routine of playing. For some reason, even if I take a day off, that first day back I make more mistakes than I would've if I didnt take a day off. You'd think someone who plays as much poker wouldnt be affected by one off day...

Today was pretty much break even poker and pulled my win rate down by almost a full PTBB. I'm hoping I can get that back tonight and get another PTBB/100 the following night to get me up to my goal of 5 PTBB/100. Then at that point, all I need to do is stay at the mark.

I really do think 5 PTBB/100 is feasible if I play the way I know I can/should.

Favorite Suckout of the Day

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (9 handed)

saw flop|saw showdown

UTG ($284.80)
UTG+1 ($607.85)
APerfect10 ($197)
MP2 ($197)
MP3 ($170.20)
CO ($515.85)
Button ($196)
SB ($223.70)
BB ($194)

Preflop: APerfect10 is MP1 with [Jh], [Jc]. SB posts a blind of $1.
1 fold, UTG+1 calls $2, APerfect10 raises to $8, 2 folds, CO calls $8, 2 folds, BB calls $6, UTG+1 calls $6.

Flop: ($33) [6c], [5s], [7c] (4 players)
BB bets $60, UTG+1 folds, APerfect10 calls $189 (All-In), CO folds, BB calls $126 (All-In).

Turn: ($408) [Qc] (2 players, 2 all-in)

River: ($408) [Ts] (2 players, 2 all-in)

Final Pot: $408

Results in white below:
BB has Th Tc (three of a kind, tens).
APerfect10 has Jh Jc (one pair, jacks).
Outcome: BB wins $405. APerfect10 wins $3.

Villian just sat down at the table and I have never seen him play. If you know how big my database is then you know if he isnt in my database he's brand spanking new to this level and possibly a few levels below. Anytime I see this and they make a move, I push with an overpair which has proven to be an extremely high +EV move. Against even a decent player I fold this everytime; however, not against this guy. Turns out I was right even though it didnt matter thanks to him rivering his 2 outer. :(

See you all tomorrow!

Today was a really good day. Yesterday I made two big mistakes costing me 1.5 stacks and today I only made one mistake costing me 0.75 stacks so I improved. Hopefully tomorrow will be flawless. I can only wish, lol. Thankfully I had no big suckouts today. Other than that, nothing of much importance happened. Its amazing how little you have to share when you are winning but when you are losing I have a ton to share.

After today's big day, I was able to pull my PTBB/100 up to four and a quarter. Another good day tomorrow and hopefully I'm around my goal of 5 PTBB/100.

On a side note, there has been a lot of discussion on 2+2 regarding the future of online poker. It seems the majority of posters over there are extremely pessimistic. I on the other hand have always been optimistic about the future; however, after reading through a bunch of threads I started to become a bit concerned because this is my full time job now and quite frankly I do not want to go back to a 9-5. Sure, we may be in the online poker boom, but, I believe I am good enough (if not already soon) to be able to survive a not so fishy environment. If I'm better than 95% of the players at a level, then I surely should be able to survive; unless if the bottom entirely falls out. Hopefully it never gets to that and I don't think it will. Casino's have been profiting since the beginning of time. The fishes money has yet to run dry so why would online poker? Anyways...I have a bunch of reasons why I believe poker will surive and more importantly I will survive but I am slightly concerned in the back of my mind.

I'd love to here others thoughts on this...

I think that online poker is not even close to peaking. There are vast untapped markets in Europe and Asia, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see Party at 200k+ during peak periods.

I think there are a few key issues that need to be addressed to make this come around (in no particular order):

1) TV coverage needs to improve. ESPN is pimping the all-in moves at the WSOP, and that just ain't gonna hack it after a while. That being said, I think that the producers will step up and make it more interesting. I would recommend series of hands that show and explain the motivations behind seemingly wacky moves.

2) A poker cable channel would be great... it would give a lot of latitude for the creation of compelling content. Is there already one of these?

3) Compelling marketing in countries with low English speaking levels (e.g., China, Japan, etc.). This includes priming the market with good TV and online content.

4) Keeping the fun factors in games. Think of the Bad Beat Jackpot. The additional rake sucks, but I hear that it makes the tables super loose. I personally think that the bonuses at Party are not good for the site in the long run -- it seems like all of the low-limit games turn into rock gardens. Yawn. Anyway, I think that the sites need to come up with ways to make playing FUN. Negreanu talks about this a lot. I guess that TW and MK get a lot of action because they occassionally call down with crap, and then talk smack about it at the table when they hit ("Hey, I had a draw to a draw when I called two bets cold on the flop!?!").

On a side note, I think that there will always be a new crop of college players willing to lose money every year. It's so tempting when they see some guy making sick bank playing poker part-time -- "if he can do it, i can do it" seems to be the typical way of thinking. Some of these players will end up getting good, but many more will Peter Principle to a level at which they may not really understand that they not winning players. Regardless, a lot of these players will be willing to dump money on a regular basis just so that they can get the "story" for the one time they get lucky and make a big kill. Furthermore, these are the kinds of bozos that make terrible mistakes by doing things like playing over their bankroll (esp. in an effort to "catch up"), playing drunk, playing while tilting, etc.

Another side note... I think the low levels will be juicy basically forever. There are plenty of people willing to lose money and chalk it up to "entertainment". You've seen this first hand if you play the low limits at casinos. Of course, this ties back in to keeping the games "fun", and it has less relavence for "pros" who can't really afford to play at limits this low. Still, the low limit games aren't going away any time soon.

Just my 2 cents...

I didnt get to play nearly as much as I should have today. After a long day yesterday and a short nights sleep, I was exhausted. Maybe that is a good thing though, as today was one of those typical "day after a big day". Nothing went right. I was sucked out on numerous times, couldnt win a pot with anything regardless of strength. I ended up losing $37.25 with everything greater than 2 pair (sets, straights, flushes, boats). You'll never win money in this game if none of those four categories are profitable.

Overall, I was satisfied with my play, regardless of the final outcome. I dont believe I made any BIG mistakes which is a postive. I was also able to keep one pair almost even which is a huge success in my book.

Back to the OT discussion. I am glad that BTP'ers are optimistic, like me, about the future of online poker. Both of the reasons that you both stated are the exact reasons that I am optimistic as well. I believe online poker will be around forever, maybe not with the popularity of today but it should be a strong business for years to come.

AP10,
I am just wondering how you are finding the $200's compared to the $100's on Party. I have slowly moved up and have been playing the $100's for the last 6 weeks. I have the bankroll to move up and would appreciate any insights to the $200 level.
Thanks
