If TW played magic, he would first channel/fireball (hes that kinda guy) then ping ya to death with Tim. Oh, and if he needed it, he would draw his only Armageddon just in time. And all this while u were gettin mana screwed.

I used to play magic...then people stopped playing me cause I only had one deck that inevitably succeeded in pissing my opponent off whether I won or lost. One of those decks. Trust me, you've never seen so many matches end in someone getting decked. :D And while I normally did wind up pinging people to death, it was with the good ol' Rods of Ruin, which were the only damage cards in my entire travesty.

Curious. What was in your deck? How did u create a lock?

And if u used only the rods to kill me I think I'd burn all my dual lands.

I may have to bring it out to check...mostly blue and white, filled with gay shit like counters, topples, sunken hopes (I love sunken hope!), deflections, aether burts,...just a lotta really cheapass shit that any good damage deck would beat the fuck out of...hah hah, except for that one time my friend tried to overkill me with a like 30 damage-burn and I deflected it. That was fuckin hilarious!

Anyway, I mainly made it because most of my friends were playing creature decks, and unless I get completely mana/card-shanked, I'd almost invariably lock em down and they'd just have to sit there helplessly until I finally dug out a rod and killed em one point at a time :D

I guess there's a reason my friends all lovingly and unimaginatively refer to it as the "Blue Cheese deck." Nevertheless, considering it was my very first (and only) effort to ever build my own deck, I'm proud of the little bugger. :)

Ahhh! Good ole MTG. TWs deck sounds like a very much cheesier version of my ole blue/white deck, whose main goal was to reduce its opponent to no permanents on the board, and no hand. Admittedly it got overwhelemd once in awhile in the early game, but it bore the inglorious distinction of being just about the only halfway tournament worthy deck that used Taniwha, this 7/7 phaser who, when she phased in, your lands phased out. The whole idea was plowshares, wraths, counters, and lots of alternate mana, then bring out the big boy and armageddon your lands away while i get to keep mine. Then out comes the disrupting scepter and the jayemdae tome, and since i had ridiculous amounts of mana sources, id just keep on drawing cards and keep on using the disrupting scepter, and casting armageddon over and over again (using a couple of relearns thrown in there) when youd lay down lands.

Sideboard against other decks with lots of artifact mana? Dust to dust baby! And with only 2 taniwhas and 1 ivory gargoyle as the kill cards, the fourth kill card very often ended up being the feldons cane (indirectly). *sigh* - i remember them days...

Back to boring poker stuff...I played a 2:15 evening session, and all I can really say is GOD DAMN! I am truly on a mizorful run the likes of which I have NEVER before been on. I butted heads repeatedly with piers along the way, including getting AA against him a vicious 3 times. I also made a world-class isolation raise against some fella with the powerful 75s, only to be 3-bet by piersy outta the SB...of course, it all worked out just dandy when I nefariously flopped trip 5s. I don't think piers likes me very much right now!

I'll post yet another example to show why I no longer have the right to complain about the bad beats that are occasionally put on me.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (10 handed)

Preflop: TW is UTG+2 with [Th], [Ts].
2 folds, TW raises, 1 fold, MP2 calls, MP3 calls, 4 folds.

Flop: (7.33 SB) [8d], [9d], [4d] (3 players)
TW bets, MP2 calls, MP3 raises, TW 3-bets, MP2 folds, MP3 calls.

Turn: (7.16 BB) [Tc] (2 players)
TW bets, MP3 raises, TW calls.

River: (11.16 BB) [8s] (2 players)
TW checks, MP3 bets, TW raises, MP3 calls.

Final Pot: 15.16 BB

Results in white below:
TW has Th Ts (full house, tens full of eights).
MP3 has Ad Jd (flush, ace high).
Outcome: TW wins 15.16 BB.

And there ya have it. Runner-runner boatski. I don't think I necessarily played it badly (though I may have been best off betting the river and hoping to 3-bet), but I mean WOW. He was probably somewhere around, oh say 98% on the flop? Poor guy.

Anyhow, I made about $220 or so all told, this SMASHING across the ol' 3K barrier! Yet again! As much as I have no right to hope for this after the luck I've had this week, I still think it'd be really cool to make another 2-300 and be able to cash down to 3K at the end of the week. That would be fucking awesome.

Just wrapped up a rather ugly 2:20 session, yielding a loss of $250 or so...kinda irritating, because it was filled with the god-awful sorts of plays I've been so good about avoiding! Also a few ugly beats, but as I've said, I think I'm owed a few in that department after the week I've been having.

So yeah, what it really boils down to is that I played like a bit of a shit-monger. But I'm not gonna get too down about that, because other than this session, I've been playing well lately; and of course, it doesn't hurt that I'm still up about 1200 for the week! :D

Nevertheless, I gotta cut that shit out and keep on putting in some good, solid hours if I ever want to hurdle the ol' 3-6 barrier. Hopefully, that's only a couple weeks away!

Played for another couple hours and redeemed $165 of my earlier loss, despite some rather cold cards and a lot of draws that didn't get there. Felt a lot more calm and in control than I did during my rather madcap antics earlier. Now, I should probably be off to sleep in anticipation of a fun day at the ol' fueling station tomorrow!
