Glad to welcome you aboard. There's a lot of good discussion here and I think you'll enjoy it. BTP is still growing...but new people and posts are becoming a lot more common.

If you are jumping the bandwagon of NL Hold'em..post some hands up in the Ring games section and i'll try and help you out (as i'm sure others will as well). I've been playing online for a long time and have made a lot of mistakes....hopefully you can learn from them as I have :)

This is a friendly and very informative site, use it to its full potential!

Welcome Cactus Jack, my first piece of advice to you is to read a lot in the bankroll section. I too am an boreline OCD with my chosen hobbies and just the same with poker. As I started learning the game most of it becomes pretty natural, but learning how to work within a bankroll does not. Learining how to manage a bankroll is one of the keys to having this game pay your bills.

Thanks for the welcome. I've got a couple friends from other forums I'm going to get over here. Hopefully, you guys can maintain the decorum. I appreciate anyplace that has more adults than children. I'm wondering if it might be possible to make a pay forum for serious poker players, to cut down on the white noise from guys who put capital letters in the middle of their misspelled names, ala baD DuDe pOker plAying niTWit who goes aLL INaLL on nuTTin. For people who've read books with more words than colored pictures, where the dialogue isn't put into bubbles.

Sorry if that insults anyone, but it gets tiresome for some of us. Is there no place where the Dudz don't Rulz?

Hey cactus. I definitely preferred you much more when you were Mankind, though the early definition of that character pretty much sucked. Dude Love was fun but not really watchable after hearing the joke about once, though your best time was definitely spent in ECW.

I'm just glad Tetsuo didn't insist on calling you Mason the Mutilator. That would've been f'ing interminable.

Welcome aboard buddy, and hope your time on this forum is enjoyable. If you have any omaha questions, i'll be glad to help. If you have any no limit questions, well I know icemans and a few others :). Hope it all goes great for you in BTP land - your bio is great, I think you're a man after my own heart (or, given my age, perhaps I'm a man after your own heart)....

I think we can just rely on very active moderators..most of the original gang are refugees from UPF, a site ruined by spam and flames - I'm pretty sure Ice and Tetsuo won't be tolerating any of that here...if there are money issues down the line I'm sure some of the regulars wlil be able to make contributions in one way or another..

I think the idea of a pay forum is not nessicary, the moderators do a very good job of keeping everything on topic and keeping Spam and other annoying BS out. Keeping the board free benefits everyone involved, it helps newer players get up to speed faster and soon they are the ones coming up with insights that other people may have missed. Plus we are trying to attract new memebers, much harder to do with a pay site.

Yea, I think that making a pay site makes more ppl turn away from a possible great site like this one. If this was a paysite I probbably would not have joined considering im a pretty stingy Asian dude new to this site too. I think good poker info and insight should not cost money to access although I would be willing to pay for books and stuff. As a student, money is somewhat of an issue I guess, just my opinon.

I do believe the Monk is trying to be clever by alluding to 'WWF Smackdown' characters, of which your namesake is one.

Felonius is a top poster and has some great advice, so you have to forgive him this kind of puerility occasionally, although it's unfortunate he chose a thread in which "getting away from childishness" was one of the main topics, lol.

I used to love WWF when I was back in University :D .

Bang goes my last vestiges of intellectual credibility on this site  .

I have absolutely no memory whatsoever of writing the above post, so one can only assume it was about 3am British time at the weekend after I'd had one two many beers

As for Cactus Jack, well he always was a good 'un.

Welcome!
