Ok, let's say you call on the flop and the turn brings a non-low brick? Then what?

I guess there are 2 ways to look at the hand.

1) You are up against another 4 that may already be boated (or 88), in which case you are drawing to very few outs for high and need the low to break even.

2) You are up against another 4 that hasn't boated, in which case you are looking at taking all or perhaps half of the high, and are in good shape for low.

I figured the only hand that really kicks my ass is A288, and that I am most likely up against A24x at worst, in which case he has 3 outs to 3/4 me assuming the low comes. I figured if I call and the turn bricks I can't call his forthcoming pot bet. Since I had him covered I potted back at him and he called.

What does he have?

I would reraise all in on the flop -- take this bad boy down on the spot. Even if he as you beat with a boat, you still have outs to a low. I don't like giving cards cheaply, you could end up being forced to make a tough decision without having any idea what your opponent has. You either want to charge him for drawing (e.g., to a low) or you want to see two cards if you are beat on the flop. All-in.

I haven't played these specific games and have no reads, but I would put him on the following hands (in order of probability):

- low draw with counterfeit protection (e.g., A23x)

- AAxx

- 4xxx (maybe with A)

- 8xxx (probably with low potential)

- 88xx

- A24x

I think the last two are relatively unlikely (but possible). You most likely have the best hand now, and you have draws to half the pot (small possibility of 1/4) if you don't. Note that you're not necessarily sad if your low gets counterfeited -- it gives you a boat.

If you go all in, it _is_ possible for you to get stacked or quartered, but I think that this has a relatively low likelihood of happening.

Possible to get some twodimes numbers when you share the result?

Yeah, I get all in on the flop, with these shallow stacks. I don't see how you can let this one go, and, like you said, you're not in terrible shape against a lot of hands. Even vs A248 and A288 you're not drawing totally dead. Add in the random idiot factor and I think it's all in time, now or on the turn.

Yeah, well, I think I'd still play it the same way, even though he had A288. No low came and I got cornholed. I don't agree with the way he played the hand, I'd have taken it a bit slower, but obviously it worked for him.
