I was messing around today. I made some bad calls on purpose on party poker to see how people bet with pocket rockets or kings. Here's my findings.
If you called a pocket pair and someone raises huge and he's a tight aggressive player, check his stack. If he's betting less than 1/12th his stack, call it. On the flop, if you nail your set, bet into him 2x the pot. In every situation where I did this they went all in against me or committed themselves heavily with a re-raise (although I was just playing around and I didn't have the set tonight). If he doesn't raise all-in but raises you, call it, and call the turn - I guarantee he comes out swinging at you.
For some inexplicable reason, people feel invincible or pot committed with a high pocket pair and play them poorly. Again, make sure he has a big enough stack and that you can cover him if you do this though, otherwise it's not worth it.
