I am new to PT,this site and to computers so please bear with the stupidity of this problem.PT was not shifting windows well so I check things out and see that almost ALL of my hard drive memory is used.I have 80GB and I check my files and see that the program files are taking 74 GB of memory.I compact on PT and get it down to 67.4 GB .All this is from the program log of the poker site.What am I doing wrong?How can this be and again I am sure you must be laughing at such a newbie act of idiocy but please take pity and help.Thanks.

I can help, because this is more a computer question than a pokertracker question.
Windows has a built in maintenece feature called Disk Cleanup.
This will probably free up 5-10GB if you have not run it before.

In windowsXP click START then All Programs
In Accessories, then system tools, there is a link to Disk Cleanup

Just having it run at its default settings should free up a bunch of space for you.

You might want to invest in a CDR/RW to take some of the files that you want to keep,
but hardly ever use, and back them up to a CD to free up even more space.
Decent CD burners are now down to 30 bucks and discs about 10 cents each.

Edit: having reread your post, this might not be the answer you need, but I will still leave it up anyway, someone might need this.

Your post script is right.I guess my problem is my hard drive is almost completely filled with hand history logs.How can that be?How is this most easily compacted?

If you are using PartyPoker, in the main lobby after you log in, there is an option in the options menu dropdown, called Hand History configuration.
There should be something similar if not at party.

What are your settings there?
In party, you can specify the size of the hand history file in either days, or disk space.
The default: what mine is set to is 10GB or 30 days.

My log folder at Carribean Sun is 70.5GB.I know nothing about data management.I have never used Zip or know anything about how to compress so much data.I only surf the net and play poker.Perhaps this is a computer question after all.I will PM.

It is two of my Carribean Sun Log files.One is 3,234,963KB while the other is a wopping 70,683,714KB.I don't even want to try to open them.I only have notepad and wordpad.Before I noticed that the other log files were only 500KB I started RAR and it has been creating an archive log.rar for the last seven hours with three more to go.Can I just delete these two monster files?Will RAR be able to compact this much data?What the hell is on these files?I am at a complete loss.I worry some insidious virus or screwup on my part made these small text files grow like some tumour.Could I have somehow autoloaded all the data repeatedly into the same two files?I virus scanned everything to no avail.

I can't find anything on the internet that is similar to your problem.

But I suggest you are taking the correct course of action by playing safe and avoiding this software until you have had a reasonable explanation from the sites concerned.

I suggest you keep contacting customer support. Refer them to this thread to show that by not responding to your entirely legitimate security concerns they are not doing themselves any favours in the eyes of this forum's community.
