.50/1.00 NL Gaming Club $100 max buyin

Just moved to this table after my other one broke up. When this hand occured I was on a bad run...though I don't believe it was effecting play. I have no reads on my opponents.

Opponent has about $75. I have him covered.

Dealt [Ad][4d] on the button. UTG limps, folded to me. I call. BB checks.

FLOP $3 (3 players)
[7d][8c][2d]

Nut flush draw for kenny. UTG leads for $4. I raise to $12 in position. BB folds. UTG calls.

TURN $27 (Heads-up)
[7d][8c][2d][5c]

Openended with the nut flush draw now. UTG checks. I bet $20. UTG calls.

RIVER $67
[7d][8c][2d][5c][6c]

Missed my nut flush but have the low end of a straight. UTG check, I thinks. It's doubtful that UTG holds a 9 here. I put him on trips or possibly a high pocket pair. I guess 910 is a small possibilty....but...I really didn't think he held that. I decide to move in and see if he's a calling station or not :)

How was my play on this hand?? I'm really curious to see if you guys bet this river or not.

Results later.

Well, here's my stab at the river bet. I don't like it. If he has a 9 or two clubs he'll call you, net loss of $52 on your end with the bet. If he has the low straight he'll probably call you too... net gain 0. If he doesn't have a straight with that board he should fold them up with an openended straight and flush on the board. And if you bet small he may take that as a sign of weakness and force you to call an all-in on a check raise.

Then again, people are stupid. He might have flopped a set and not protected it on a cordinated board. I just don't like doing that when I don't have a read on the player.

I would have just checked behind him on the river.

I like the flop raise although I wouldve probably raised less.
I would check the river behind. He probably doesnt have a 9, but he probably doesnt have anything he can call an all in with either so theres no point in it. So that means 80% he folds, but when he calls I think you lose. He couldve gotten lucky with a backdoor flush. Most of the time I think he folds no matter what you do , which means a check is best

Sometimes I outthink myself and make bets on the river that I shouldn't. You guys were all correct in this situation...it's a check..even when it's a very small possibilty of a 9 or backdoor flush.

He ended up holding [Jh][9h] ??!!! Called my flop raise with nothing but a gutshot..then called a pot sized bet on a double gutshot. Then he checked to me on the river when he should have bet.

I hate the way he played his hand. Horrible really. I thought I played fine except for the river bet was a little too optomistic. Gotta remember these weekenders could hold anything.
