1st ever BTP tournament results

Postby iceman5 » Sun Jan 16, 2005 9:02 pm

Here are the final top 10 finishers in the 1st ever BTP tourney. There were 25 entrants.

1. KennyG...$125
2. Nortonesque...$75
3. Chet13...$50
4. TxKowboy...bubbleboy
5. ricardoon
6. john61 (striker2550)
7. briachek
8. Hofstra
9. johnnyrb1 (neverslowplay_AA)
10. iceman5

TxCowboy wins the bounty on my head by knocking me out in 10th place. Good job!

This was, by far, the best played $10 tournament Ive ever played in. The competition was fierce and it took much longer than I wouldve thought due to there not being any morons busting out early.

Congrats to KennyG for playing so well. Hes on top of his game right now and it shows.

The tournament was a blast, but the railbird chat was some of the funniest suff Ive read in a long time. I was literally cracking up out loud to the point that my wife asked me what was going on.

We plan on having more of these in the future and hopefully we will have more and more players each time. My personal opinion is that we should limit it to once per month so people have something to look forward to and dont get burned out on them. Other forum have has these tournies once a week and they tend to be no big deal so the turn out dwindles when you know you can catch the one next week if you miss this one.

We may even try to work on some type of point system and have a tourney player of the year or something.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a cold January day... 25 gunslingers showed up in Dodge to see who was the best. There was the deadly KennyG who was fast as greased lightning, who drew his AK sixshooter with no fear. He could even play with a soiled dove sittin in his lap.
Riding up from the SouthWest was well known Jessie James of poker, they called him Norton, with his 2 pearl handled pistols that had AA engraved on the handles.

Then there was the silent stranger that noone knew and who came out of nowhere, quickdraw specialist who always had the sun behind him before he went all in with his Colt 45 suited, outlaw turned gunslinger/poker player. They called him ... Chet.

Outta the Pecos River region came the deadly seasoned gunslinger...they called him the Cowboy...and he looked the part...rumors had it he'd taken out Wesley Hardin w/ his pair of 2's on the button. Never under estimate anyone from the Lone Star state. Especially when they reraise you with a pair of Kowboys.

Riding in from across the ocean was a slick Londoner...he never lost heads up in his life, unless he'd been drinking too much brandy or watching the saloon girls and got impatient. A force to be reckoned with.

Coming from Denton, was Doc John Holiday, whom all feared...he had on his arm Big Nose Kate, a lady of the evening. Some two handed cross drawing, flush hittin hombre by the name of Briancheck would be there, duking it out. And the deadly Oringo Kid could draw to an inside straight and hit it every time.

Another famous gun from parts unknown, could bluff you right outta drawing,,, they called him...JohnnyReb. Then there was a gunslinger so cool, he had ICE running thru his veins...always had a bounty on his head, but still cooool in the face of danger.
To round out this fearsome 10 was...Always Faithful...least that's what they called him in Latin...never anything bad to his face...He was a thorn in the side to the Prince of Pistols, WildBillHickok, lol, and ole WildBill gotten taken out by this reraisin gutsy USMC sniper.

Then there was the dirtiest, slickest gunslinger of em all. He was called Adam. No one knew why they called him that...perhaps it was because he was the first...to go out....Rumors had it, he laid down on purpose, just to be a good sport.

Another deadly 15 showed up, anyone of which could have taken anyone down on a given day.

These are the brave...the few...those willing and able to put it all on the line...in the first shootout of BTP.

"kate" is NOT a lady of the evening, just a stripper. And if u saw her u wouldnt care about the nose thing. GRIN

Really that was the most fun I have had playing poker in a very long time. Cant wait till the next one.

Congrats to kenny, norton, and chet. Well played!

I will admit I was getting some GREAT cards early but nobody called me on ANYTHING so all I kept doing was winning the blinds and some limpers money. Nobody wants to call me. Why? Then, as the blinds increase, my cards dried up and had to steal a couple pots but still was getting blinded down. It came down to a pretty much an all in that had to be done.

I mainly play on Party so I was really happy with this format rather than Party's format.

I did win a couple of coin flips..but I must say I was happy with the way I played. I couldn't get any cards so most of the time I was stealing.

I did get AK and limp reraised Kowboy who held KK and properly reraised me. lol...no respect :). Just glad I folded that one.

My hand of dome was against Norton. I had A,10 off. I doubled the blind I think to 1000. Norton smooth called. The flop was all clubs and all low cards. My 10 was a club. Norton checked so I figured I would take it down right there. I bet 1200. Again he smooth called.

Here was my demise. On the turn he checked and I checked behind him taking a free card. I should have pushed all in instead of checking. The river was blank Norton smelled weakness and bet 3000. I mucked leaving myself short stacked and on my way to the rail.

Great fun people, thanks very much for taking part!

Many congratulations to the winner plus of course all the gallant losers.

I was mortified to go out just after the first break. I was shortstacked and went all in with Kx while I had a reasonable stack but I neglected to take account of Chet13, who had a monster stack and was intent on playing with ANY shortstacked move with ANY two cards, lol :-)

It also didn't help that my internet connection went down for a full 15 minutes of play, during which I was blinded to bits.

I shall stop complaining now - I loved railbirding! :D

Sounds like a fun tourney, too bad I missed it. I'm looking forward to the next one. Sounds like Kenny sure is on top of his game right now! Keep it up.
