WEEK 2 RESULTS: Full time and 4 tabling

Postby kennyg » Sun Jan 16, 2005 5:51 am

For those of you who didn't read my first couple of posts.....I'm becoming pro and trying to play full time this month and win $4k at the .50/1.00 NL level on gaming club. I've never 4 tabled before this month, so it's all a new experience for me. This is a link to my week one results forum/viewtopic.php?t=848

Here are my week 2 results. Below that are combined stats for week 1 and 2, and extra comments are on the bottom. Enjoy!

.50/1.00 NL on Prima Poker WEEK 2
52 sessions
34 winning sessions
5713 total hands

+$1163.08
+$40.43 an hour
+20.36 win rate/100 hands (10.18 BB/100)

28.77 hours
MT ratio 3.54

VP$IP 12..50 %
Won $ when seeing flop: 34.60%
PF raise 4.01 %
Folded to river bet: 67.42%
aggression factor: 4.17 (almost moved up a entire point here from week 1)
standard deviation: $61.40 an hour

best three hands in order: KK, QQ, AKo

Comments on Week 2:
This week started very well and ended very well. I was actually up around $1000 with an hourly rate of $55 on thursday. Sadly, I hit a bad stretch and lost $400 to every calling station on the site. I was outdrawn every single hand!! I went and visited the strip club to ease my tensions...(and met a stripper who plays poker in the process.) I came back on saturday with an optomistic outlook. I banged in a good +$250 in the first 4 hour session. The I pulled in about +$280 saturday evening to completely wipe away that $400 hit.

I did want to play more hours then 28.77. I was hoping to get anywhere between 30-40, though my goal was 35. But I had to stop playing on friday because I starting tiliting when I lost the $400 (and I'm glad I did.) On saturday, I left early, wanting to finish the week up on a good note. Since I was over my money goal of $1000, I just didn't feel like hitting a bad stretch in my final hour...so I left.

I did well in avoiding medicore situations for the most part this week. I loved my play overall, but I feel stupid about tilting away $70 on one hand on my bad night. I'm supposed to be a pro and have no time or money for that crap.

Overall a great week.

.50/1.00 NL on Gaming CLub Week 1 and week 2 COMBINED
100 sessions
60 winning sessions
12296 total hands (I think thats more hands I've played since I was born :))

+$2103.57
+$33.91 an hour
+17.10 win rate/100 hands (8.55 BB/100)

62.03 hours
MT ratio 3.58

VP$IP 13..56 %
Won $ when seeing flop: 35.17%
PF raise 3.99 %
Folded to river bet: 68.85%
aggression factor: 3.62
standard deviation: $53.17 an hour

best three hands in order: AA, KK, QQ (how about that :) )

Week 1 and Week 2 comments:

I'm right on track to hit my 4k goal for the month! Everything is going according to plan, though I thought I'd be playing a few more hours. I'm really proud of the fact that I have been able to minimize my losses with big hands when I'm beaten. I really have gotten good at not losing my stack to trips and staying optomistic. Good notes, good play, and some decent emotional control (except one evening) is leading to some damn fine profit. If my weekly stats hold to about this rate, I don't see why I shouldn't become a full time pro.

I hope you guys find these stats at interesting as I do. Maybe some of you will follow into my footsteps? :)

Thoughts and comments are very much appreicated!!

Good to know some poeple are interested! I will keep you posted week to week.

WTG :-). I'm afraid of TGC. For some unknown reason, I get ghastly results when playing there. Pokerstars, Party Poker and UB I can win regularly. At TGC I just get slaughtered EVERY single time I play.

BTW, is it possible to run GT there?

Hey kenny, great results so far! Are you planning on moving up to the 200 no limit on there? I'm sure you could get to around 60 an hour there no problem. The thing I love about GC is that for some reason, even their higher no limit games are more than beatable. I was watching the 10/20nl for a while. There was like only one guy who knew how to raise more than the minimum. Easy Pickings!

Good luck on the rest of your month!

When you say

"+17.10 win rate/100 hands (8.55 BB/100)"

You mean PT shows 8.55BB/100 hands right?

yeah the 8.55 BB/100 is PT's number.

FlopmyFlush,
Yes I plan on playing the $200NL. I actually think there is more action on the $200 NL tables then the $100...though..they are still passive!! Wonderful games really.

I will probably start playing those next month. My bankroll requirements are higher then most people's at the moment (I can't replace my roll, my only source of real income etc.)

I dont know why, but in PT if you play NL, the BB/100 hand figure is defined as 2BBs. Put your mouse over the header of that column and you'll get a description of the column. Or, just calculate how much money youve won divided by how many hands youve played and you'll see what I mean.

If you play .50/$1 NL, and play 100 hands and win $25....you'll see that it will say your win rate is 12.5 BB/100 hands. Obviously if youve won $25, youve won 25BBs in those 100 hands.

PT was designed for limit play where a "big bet" is actually twice the big blind thats where the problem is, but I dont know why they cant fix it.

By the way, I played with you at GC the other night. Im under cover there though so I cant tell you who I am.

Now's that an interesting tidbit. I guess I should look over PT and see which player raised over $2 preflop. Ten I"ll know who you are ice :)

As for the PT stats.... the BB/100 numbers are correct. My friend Blade and I were discussing this. If you click on the "more detail" tab under sessions...it has a "winrate/100" that is always double your BB/100. Because a big bet on .50/1.00 NL is $2 instead of $1...then the number is correct. I think for NL players it should just show win rate...since that is much more revelant to our stats then a BB/100.

hey kennster,

Your numbers look great! Congratulations! I'm hoping to break $2000 part time this month (was my usual number per month for most of last year, but after a bad November and December i'm setting my sights pretty low... Well on the way with about $1500 so far). Keep us posted. Sounds like you're on top of your game right now... I had a run like that last October when I was just destroying the PLO games. In all seriousness I'm fairly sure I clocked over 45BB/100 for the whole month in the 100 buyins! If you can keep your numbers anywhere near where there are now i'm sure you can live very comfortably and keep putting a little aside for any bad times in the future. Very important I think - take good care of your money and have a medium-term plan with plenty of backup!
