Noob question: What is so special about small double suits?

For a hand like 6789 I don't really understand why the ds version is that much stronger then the non suited version. The only real benefit of the ds that I see is if you flop a str8 and flush draw. In that case the suitedness can act as blockers and give you a small amount of value. I don’t see any value in the flush draws with out the str8 draw and if you flop a str8 and flush draw and the flush completes I wouldn’t think your hand is that powerful.

Examples:
You get [6d] [7d] [8s] [9s] in MP. You limp and the flop is [2s] [Ts] [Kc], and someone in EP pots. Easy fold right?

You get [6d] [7d] [8s] [9s] in MP. You limp and the flop is [5s] [6s] [Kc]. You pot and someone behind calls. Turn is a [Qs]. Now what?

Am I missing something?

i personally see it as more like insurance.

in your examples, the flush is weak. but when you have a made str8 with a two-fkush board, you can jam the pot in order to push out the bare nut flush draws while still having a redraw yourself (e.g. against someone holding the same str8).

I don't want it for flush purposes. I want it for redraw purposes against someone with the same hand. The real power of suitedness of wrap hands can be shown in this post by me:

This might not work when the server change is done. The post it "redraws revisited"

You want to try to have a made straight but have a redraw for the flush against someone with the bare straight. Other than that, I definitely don't chse flushes and fold when a flush hits and there is action.
