Turn and River Decision

Postby briachek » Wed Oct 12, 2005 11:28 am

Should I have checked behind on the turn and called a reasonable river bet? His river bet either seems like a pure bluff or a made hand he wants to look like a bluff and didn't have the courage to try and check raise me (I was checking behind so he was right).

i usually slow down in situations like this when i btp on the flop and get called. it makes me think that he has a nice drawing hand, and i have no idea what he's drawing to.

again, if pto/pahud stats suggest that he lays down to turn bets often, i might be tempted to continue. otherwise, i check behind and wouldn't call anything on the river with this board (too many likely hands --even weak ones -- beat you).

I figured the 4 could be a really good card for me. If he had top two pair, I now have that killed. If he had a draw, he didn't complete it. The only thing that 4 does is kill me if he had a 4 or a set. As for the river, he could have backdoored a flush, filled up or got his straight.
