PLO8 Results: OK?

Postby piersmajestyk » Thu Oct 13, 2005 12:43 am

Here are my PLO8 numbers over the last month and a half. They are all at the 25 level. This is the first time I have played much PLO8 at all so thought I would see where I was standing and if I should be winning more at this low level or if I am where I should be. Don't have much of a feel for what the numbers should be in a split game.

An update after a little more play.

9652 hands, +521.13 $5.39/100 BB/100= 21.56

JD, I don't have the PT for Omaha so i can't help you on that front in regard to WSD%. All I have been able to do is record time, hands, win/loss.

Piers and Goop - what are your %Win at showdown numbers? I have been a little below 60% of late and I'm not sure how much of that is me making too many crying calls and how much is shitty cards. I think it's a little of both, but I'm wondering where everyone else is at.

I am at work now, but I'll put my numbers up tonight if I remember.

10.78 real BB/100 is 5.5 PTBB/100, not 20 PTBB/100. PTBB are half of your real figure. As you don't have PT it doesn't really matter

20PTBB/100 (40 real BB/100) is really not a long term possibility as far as I'm concerned, unless the game is almost unbelievably weak.

FYI, your "real" figure is 21.5 BB/100, PTBB is really half of that. 21.5 BB/100 is a good figure if you can keep that up long term. I think mine is about 17 or something for the hands I've got, alas my PTO is dead at present, but it's at 100 and 200 mostly, with maybe 5k hands or something logged (?) last time I checked.

Traditionally BB in pot-limit games (as you know) is big blinds, or rather 25c on a $25PLO8. Pokertracker counts BBs as "big bets", like in limit, of 50c. So one pokertracker BB = 2 real BBs, and you're making about 20BBs/100 which is 10 PTBBs/100.

Looks like your figures are solid anyhow, to my fairly untrained eyes! Any thoughts to move up into bigger games or are the extremely green pastures of 25 too tempting?

i think i saw the same post on bw, and i also think the poster was mendacious/macgyver.

piers, i think if you play at Party instead of skins, that you will find that your bb/100 will go up. the skins are quite a bit tighter and have smaller average pots than party.

i don't have a lot of data to compare, but i think that the reload madness at multi really tightened the plo8 tables on party and skins during august and september. they were still beatable, but you went from maybe one or two tight, winning players per table to maybe three or four. this meant fewer seats for donators and more people fighting over the donators' money.

I'm about 30 real BB/100 for PLO in the games I play, 7 and 8 tabling. I don't think I could get near that at PLO8 without playing about 2 tables at once. I'm a little below 20 I think. I am a reasonable PLO8 player and a very good PLO player. If i'm not sure about anything I wouldn't bullshit and pretend I have some sort of answer, I'll just point out that i'm not sure and that this is my best stab at it. My biggest beef with 2+2 is all manner or goobers come on from all angles and post garbage advice as if it's gospel.

I think I would be a losing or (at best) break even player in the bigger PLO8 games online (i.e. $1k+) without only playing when morons were present. Nontheless I win up to 400PLO8, which is as high as i've played. I defer to anyone who wins at 1k and above!

I don't believe sh*t I hear at 2+2 to be honest. Still, it's better than that weak-tight-o-phile and his dreadful low limit advice at the negreanu site (which I won't even advertise on here by speaking its name  ). Some of the players at 2+2 are pretty good, however, I reckon Mendacious is one. Not sure about the figures one way or another.

Listen to anyone who talks a decent game. Trust anyone who plays a decent game.
