I think your play is fine, unless you have this guy pegged as a real live one. usually it's either a bluff or a hand that beats your, neither of which you need/want to raise. However, if he's a balloon you might get the rest of his stack with 3s full or even just trip 3s. These sort of players are probably more common in your games i'd have thought!

wow... after seeing this, i may have to reconsider my theory that check-callers don't wake up on the river unless they hit their hands.
