Frustration is mounting.
Yesterday Piers and I played our first challenge match. It was in Chinese Poker, which I did not know how to play on Sunday, so I didn't have high hopes. However playing the play money games briefly beforehand I felt as though I had picked up the game fairly well. Still, that was a small sample size against people probably worse than our very own Piers Majesky, but what kind of man (Not one at all according to TightWad, more on that later) would I be if I only played him in games I thought I have a +EV!? Well right off the bat he made some real nice hands and I couldn't put much together and he had a big lead. TightWad was firing jokes left and right, I really had no idea he was so funny. I mounted about 3 little comebacks but nothing really serious and after maybe two hours Piers finished me off. I have never laughed so much while losing $50. Then I logged onto Partypoker to do some actual work. 40 minutes into the hellish session (flopped set of 4s ran into a set of 5s and another flopped set of 4s ran into a flopped PAIR OF 5s, who was able to nail a runner runner flush on me) my internet connection died, AGAIN. I lost about $500 before the connection died.
Today was Yom Kippur so I had shit to do until I got home at around 8:30. I was eager to make back my losses and just flat out playing again. I got on 2 $10/$20 (6 max) tables, 1 $10/$20 (9 max), and a 4-5 handed $20/$40 ring game. Things were going pretty well but the connection starting getting very bad and I was getting timed out left and right so I had to end the session rather quickly. I made about $600. Piers do you mean noon or midnight? The odds of me being up at noon are roughly the same as hitting a gutshot. However if I am up and my connection is behaving better, I'd love to.
