I don't know if I would fold this as if he has the straight, he had it on the flop and why would someone check call the flop to lead out the turn? I put him on the flush draw with some sort of other mediocre hand and I close my eyes and call.

You should practice reading the board if you think all this guy has is a gutshot.

Ignoring your opponents hand, you have 10 outs to the boat, and 44 cards unseen. So you need the bet to be somewhere between a fifth and a quarter of the total final pot to be +EV to call. You have to call $8.40 into a final pot of $29 ish, meaning you don't really quite have odds to call. However, factor in the random idiot factor, and the fact that he raised preflop (so a straight seems less likely - a PFR makes middle cards like 8s and 6s less believable) and that probably swings you the few extra bucks of equity required to call. If you had a goon-ish read on this opponent calling becomes more and more attractive!

actually, i was really tired when i posted this, and i had just made a lot of posts, so i wasn't really being careful. i was pissed that all he had was A-high. anyway, i see now that he has the flush draw and OESD -- i still should have called.
