Flopped boat - slow played to defeat?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.5 BB (10 handed)

MP3 ($30.55)
CO ($24.5)
Button ($23)
Hero ($38.2)
BB ($30.65)
UTG ($47.7)
UTG+1 ($11.9)
UTG+2 ($37.15)
MP1 ($62.1)
MP2 ($22.1)

Preflop: Hero is SB with [2c], [2d]. CO posts a blind of $0.75.
UTG folds, UTG+1 raises to $1, UTG+2 folds, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, MP3 folds, CO (poster) calls $0.50, Button calls $1, Hero calls $0.75, BB calls $0.50.

Flop: ($5.25) [8h], [2s], [8d] (5 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, UTG+1 checks, CO checks, Button bets $1, Hero calls $1, BB calls $1, UTG+1 folds, CO calls $1.

Turn: ($9.25) [Kd] (4 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, CO checks, Button bets $2, Hero raises to $5, BB calls $5, CO folds, Button calls $3.

River: ($24.25) [6s] (3 players)
Hero bets $15, BB raises to $23.65 (All-In), Button folds, Hero calls $8.65.

Final Pot: $71.55

The BB was kind of new to the game and I saw her call and $15 all in on a 9TJ flop with AKo. I once again got greedy. I didn't want my flopped boat to go to waste and most people with an 8 would let me know right away and wouldn't get them to fold anyway so I was hoping to trap someone with an 8 that was also slowplaying. This way, I could lure another person in. There was probably no way to win this pot but comments on how I played it?

What do you mean no way to win this pot? Did you lose? BB had 8-6 or something? I think you played it fine. I'm actually a little suprised that you got a check-raise in on such a ragedy board on the turn there. What would an opponent with an overpair put you on when you check-called the flop? (A lower overpair I guess, but aside from that you've gotta be slowplaying that 8).

Ok, I meant to put in the results and I guess I didn't copy it. The BB had 86 for flopped trips and she made a bigger boat on the river. So I LOST!! I'm still pissed I lost this one on the river.

With this many players I don't feel there is any need to slowplay your hand. I would lead for a small bet on the flop (~$2) and go from there. If I'm raised, I would just call the raise and then checkraise the turn. If multiple players call, I checkraise the turn again. If just one player calls, I lead out on the turn. Either way you need to try to get your stack in as quickly as possible.

Someone caught a RIVER????? At PARTY????

Lol :) no but seriously, I think you didn't do too much wrong here. I think I would've check-raised all in on the turn, you're only getting paid by an 8 so you might as well make them pay. As it was you got in by the river, but gave two cheap cards for the player with 4 outs. In any case, I doubt you'd have shaken this player off for a big raise at any stage, but I think in this case, knowing you'll only be paid by an 8, you can afford to be a little more aggressive. I would not give free cards on any street here (even if that means making small bets/raises) because it is entirely possible someone has an overpair to your 2s which you need to make pay a few dollars to draw out on you.

The flop may in all seriousness be the right time to raise here because you'd rather not (i imagine) give free looks to two players with an 8 and one player with an overpair (quite possible) for a total of 8 combined outs. One or two of the players who called a buck here aren't going much further with this as they're clearly fishing in with marginal holdings, so I don't think you lose any value by losing them, you just reduce your chances of being run down by the river. Again it's one of those risk versus reward situations, and the main consideration should be whether you're prepared to take the risk of letting in cheap draws to enable you to win a big pot down the line.

yeah, I agree with WC but I also got really greedy with the hand and underbet the pot and let the BB hit her boat cheaper than I should have made it. I should have been all in by the end of the turn. If anyone was gonna call later, they likely would have called then. I was hoping someone with a K would stick around and pay me off too.
