I just want to check that my play on this hand was correct. Personally, I think it was - if it isn't then maybe I'm doing quite a few things wrong. Normally I wouldn't even question it but, afterwards, the guy who lost got really nasty about my play! I normally don't talk at the tables but I decided to give him some back (his turn raise?!). I wish I'd copied the conversation. My opponent seemed to raise pre-flop quite a bit and often follow through with a bet on the flop even when slightly weak.

Nothing wrong with that. Especially given he's enough of a balloon to present his stack on a silver salver when you catch on the turn. That's what I call implied odds.

I've played this guy once or twice but have no real read on him. I think he's fairly new. I will keep an eye out for him, my estimation would be he's not too bad, maybe he was a bit on tilt or something (hence the response!) but basically he just got outdrawn, and should probably have just called the turn. The problem for him is that IF he does that it's only another 40-odd to call your bet on the river so it's hard to lay down 88. If he's not going to fold on the river he may as well move in I guess, though if it was me I reckon i'd probably be able to lay down on the river. He probably doesn't know you so well though.
