Regarding the penultimate entry about the Manchester casino with poker room, I assume this is the Salford Grosvenor?

Only been there once, played in a £10 PLH rebuy on a Sunday night. If you're going to a similar event, I'd recommend at least 4 rebuys worth of cash, though 'conveniently' there's a cash machine in there.

Basically there are quite a few psycho's who want to treble up the first few hands. You may not need to rebuy that often, depends on whether you want to ensure more than 30 minutes of play. We got 1000 in chips with blinds of 25/50 so it's no real surprise it's usually pot pot pot pre flop. Two tables will be left by 1am, thats when my mate busted out, beyond that I don't know.

Also, when I was there 'Burnley' John Falconer was at my table being skinny and creepy looking, though he can't help that I suppose. Registration started an hour before kick off.

No, not the Salford Grosvenor, though I did already know of that one. The one I was talking about is the new one just near what used to be the Odeon Cinema on the corner of Oxford Road and Portland Street, it's one of the Stanley group

I'm still alive!!! Time I updated this I guess. Not played for about a week due to spending some time off work and chilling out which has continued into this week but now back at my PC so poker playing has resumed.
I updated little before that as well so I'll bring you all up to speed

13th
JJ vs 22. He slowplayed his flopped set and I turned mine +44
KK vs AA. All-in PF. I didn't improve -22
KK vs QQ. All in PF. He runner-runner-runnered a straight....nice -11
AQ vs ?. Unimproved, my CB got raised all-in. I folded -11
AQ vs ?. Flop KQx. I raised his weak CB. It got tanked back at me -12
Overall -9

14th
44 vs 34. I flop set, he flops bottom 2 pair +53
AA vs KK. hehehehe +23
55 vs AQ. I flop set, him TPTK. 4 to a straight on board at end +11
55 vs ?. Flop set, turn quads +11
TT vs 76s. Flop quads. He turns flush and pushes +15
JQ vs AT. I flop flush draw, turn 2nd pair. He rivers broadway -18
K2 vs A3s. I flop 2 pair bet pot. Turn blank, bet pot. She rivers flush -13
JJ vs ?. 1 overcard on flop. He pushed my CB -10
Overall +60

15th

23rd
99 vs K7s. I flop set. He calls my push with flush draw!?!?! +50
QT vs 34s. I flop 2 pair and turn boat. He calls all-in on flop with flush draw +19
Overall +82

24th
AJ vs KJ. Flop is AKJ +21
A6s vs A4. I flop straight draw, turn straight, river flush. He has bottom straight +20
85 vs AJ. Flop is J85 +14
AK vs ?. I lose maniac on turn +12
AQ vs ?. He calls my CB. I turn TPTK, he calls pot. He rivers flush and tanks it back -18
KK vs QQ. All-in he flops a Q -15
KK vs AA. I played this badly, folded on flop to lots of heat -9
Overall +7 (1000+ hands woohoo)

OK 2 things are really obvious from the last 2 weeks.
I ran KK into AA 3 times (in the space of 4000 hands)
My KKs are running really poor
Idiots insist on calling pot on flop and turn to make their draws and generally get rewarded although I'm not calling that river push anymore

BR steadily increasing

Why is it that............
when I flop a set it's on a draw favorable board?
everyone, i mean everyone apart from me gets paid with their sets?
I've not sucked out once in the last 10,000 hands?
everyone keeps sucking out on me?
I can't string 2 decent sessions together?
I keep running KK into AA?
I keep running QQ into KK?
I'm playing well but nothing to show for it?
[/moan]

-55 today continuing this pitiful month. The last few sessions have all had a common theme....I'm up after about 300 hands and then it all goes pear shaped....I get in with the best and lose, my CBs stop working coincidentely at the same time I stop hitting. Today was no different 300 hands +40, after 800 hands -50....ugh. Long term I'm playing good enough to get better return than this, I feel I'm evolving, just in a rut this last 7 weeks now it is. Maybe I need a change of site????

Thought about pushing it PF but knowing my luck I'd be pushing into KK or AA so called and hoped to get lucky. Anything bar A or K on the flop and I was in anyhow. And guess what.....I still couldn't win the damn hand. As MK would say NIHAN SAH.....not! :D

Looking at the rest of my PT stats for the session, It's difficult to see where I lost it all. I did play one other hand which isn't worth posting cos I know it was utter crap and played awful which I lost about 17 on.
I called a raise with 99. I check raise his weak looking CB on a 7-high flop, he calls and I go into check call/fold mode calling another 5 on the turn showing a K. I really should have pushed here I think....he had QQ
Apart from this, some more lost when a couple of CBs didn't work with AK and AQ losing me about 10 each and that was that....-55....Ugh

Got some more bonus to work off at pokershare now as well, just as I was a day or 2 off clearing my existing one...Love bonuses...hehehe

Woohoo....I love poker again !!!!! +152 today
Thanks goes to 80proof for his post about being in a rut and some of the replies hit home a little bit.....I don't play enough hands. For those following this drivel, you'll know I'm very tight pre-flop but also very aggressive post-flop and recently been stealing more in position on the flop, also more out of position on the turn and making selective 'plays' usually aginst the WT category of player. This has been working. Anyway I upped my VPIP a little tonight to around 16. Thats not much I hear you cry, but thats like 1/3 more hands than I usually play. Basically on button and CO I opened out a lot more, limped with SCs, gappers, any paint-T kind hands. On these 2 positions, my VPIP was 22 (900 hands total). Usually I guess its around 15, not checked.
Anyway, didn't work at all. I stole a few more pots but didn't hit anything major with the hands I wouldn't otherwise play. What it probably gave me was a slightly looser image than usual thus my bigger hands paid off more than has done recently.
Here we go with some HH's

Or maybe not, converter not loading right now, will post when it's back up but to summarise

Kd7c vs 3d4d battle of blinds
Flop is Q85 all diamonds ($1) Villain in SB checks. I bet pot. He min CRs. I call
Turn is Td ($5) Villain leads pot. I call
River blank ($15) Villain pushes just more than pot. I call fearing the A but working out he was loose enough to raise PF with an A and he didn't so he didn't have the A
Hero wins +23

The next 2 hands come right after each other.
AA vs 78 vs 65
Lots of limpers. I'm OTB and raise 7BB with AA. UTG+2 (87) calls and CO (65) calls and is all-in
Flop is 653. UTG+2 pushes his last $10 with his straight draw, I call
Turn is 9 obviously
River is 3
Hero loses -14
UTG +2 immediately leaves. I type 'of course' and we move right into this next hand

KK vs QTsooooooted
Everone folds to me in CO and raise 5BB with KK. Button calls
Flop is Q22 sweet!!! I lead pot. Villain min-raises. No-chance QQ. I push (both full stacks) he calls
Turn is A not sweet
River is 8
He flips QT...huh...I can only think (a) he's a muppet (b) he put me on tilt
Hero wins +46

66 vs K9s
Folds to button who limps. SB folds. I'm in BB with 66 and check
Flop is Ad Jd 7c. I check. Villain checks his nut flush draw
Turn is 6d ($1.25). I lead pot. He just calls his nut flush
River is 7s ($3.75). I lead pot. Villain min-raises. I push (both full stacks).
He then asks me 'do you have a boat?'...well duh....to be fair I haven't seen him much so he can't have many hands on me and I could be the muppet he was hoping for
He calls and I bust him
I say 'yes'
He laughs and leaves
Sad
Hero wins +46

Last one now
QQ vs QTsoooooooooooooooooooooooooooted
A few limpers. I raise to 7BB in SB. UTG calls. UTG+1 calls
Flop is J99 ($14). I lead out with $10. UTG calls. Hmmmmm, don't believe JJ, what else? Trappy AA? Nah, 9x, nah, straight draw. Yup he's fishy he's on a draw
Turn is Q ($34) Sweeeeeeeeeettt!!!!! I lead $25, he has $43 left and pushes. I have him covered and call
River is K......LOL made his straight
He mucks QT.....gees
Hero wins +61

Another good session on Thursday +$77, my first back to back positive sessions this month. Wasn't without it's frustrations though, as once again I ran KK into AA

I thought it was well played by villain actually. I had him on QQ or JJ. His PFR would indicate he would come over the top with KK-AA poss AK but he trapped me. This was early on in the session so -$50 within the first half hour and I was thinking it wasn't going to be my day.....again.....so I went on a charge and got my revenge.

I also had another all-in AA situation vs QQ which held up and gave me the nut flush to boot for +32 and a QQ vs JJ all-in on the flop with low rags which again held up for +17

Got trapped again by this one

Ultimate Bet No-Limit Hold'em, $.50 BB (10 handed)

Hero has Ac Jc (two pair, jacks and threes).
BB has Kh Kc (two pair, kings and threes).
UTG doesn't show.
Outcome: BB wins $44.25.

Yesterday was a very frustrating session. Even over 600 hands, couldn't flop anything to get paid any decent amount of money on. Floated between 0 and -$30 the whole session and finally gave up when I got back to even.
Probably to many peeps surprises, I'm ploughing through the pokershare bonus at the moment, getting about $15 per session (about $5 per hour) which is better than a kick in the teeth so should clear it just in time to see what I get for the 40% profit deal they have going. Today I'll hopefully crack the $3k barrier.

Excuse me while I barf

Thats the end of the month for me and how crap it was. Thing is, it's been crap for ages, I'm just not achieving the win rate I think I can get. Maybe I'm not that good. It still has to be said though that I've had numerous suckouts against me, ran KK into AA 4 times this month and I've not sucked out once.....NOT ONCE !!!!! Now that does suck

[sigh] well heres the month end figures [/sigh]

2.09PTBB/100 seems far too low, yet when I compare it against the top 20 in terms of number of hands played for the month (>1500 hands) I'm 4th (7.02, 6.89, 6.04, then me, strange but true) !!! Seems everyone at this level at this site is having it tough.

Thursday

Difficult session, was down for most of it, and as much as $70 at one stage but fought my way back valiantly. The trouble was caused by 2 hands. One I had QQ raise it up, one caller, flop is 467. My CB gets called by short stack, turn is a Q and I push. He calls with 44 and rivers a flush, ugh.
Next I'm holding AQ and call a maniacs raise. Flop is AJT. I lead into him, he raises and I push. Normally I wouldn't do this but he really could have anything here, he was raising 33% PF. He calls with AT. Ugh

Got it back into the green when I flopped a set of 4s, turned quads and crushed villains KK. Also won a couple of hands with AK

Frustrating session but ended up positive +17

Friday

Had my good bud round and we played a $33 SNG and came out first for a $150 win. Highlight of the tourney was busting a guy with nut flush after leading out the flop with the draw and value betting the river luring him in for the push. Think he had 2 pair, can't remember now. Heads up was ridiculous, I've never seen such a passive player, couldn't change gears at all and basically ran him into the ground. Last hand was our KK busting his A6s for the tourney win.

Saturday

Another good session, I'm enjoying this week +50. Not much of note, just a steadily increasing session with only a couple hands of note. BB special with K5s flopping 2 pair and busting AK, and QQ busting JJ rivering a Q just in case.

Sunday

Again started down but ended the 1000 hand session up $66. Was frustrating and was in some difficult spots a times, but won hands when I got the money in and got away from those when I was pressured and probably losing. I hit 3 boats and got paid. Got paid with AA twice but the trouble came with my other big pairs. I ran QQ all-in into a loose players KK. Also KK into a heavily suspected AA but got away without losing too much.

Been a very enjoyable weeks worth of poker and I'm feeling pretty good at the moment after an indifferent past 2 months. Currenly I'm going at 11PTBB/100 (22BB/100) this month over 2500 hands. Hope I can keep it up.

Wednesday +55

Built up to a $60 gain in the first half hour of this 500 hands session but started to get a bit fancy half way through when I went through a dry spell with the cards. Didn't lose anything major on one particular hand but I think it's a bit of a leak I may have, trying to press a little when I'm not hitting, still, got it back though in the end. Just gotta stop the FPS.

Also had AA hold up against a short stack for +20 vs 77 on a JJ3 flop and won with KK on a J99 flop, turning a K boating me up and the money got in at that point with villain having Q9 +22.

I'm enjoying my richest vein of poker since I started playing just over a year ago. I'm just coming up on 4000 hands for the month and going at 12.9 PTBB/100. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!!!!!
Moving up is looking possible but not going to let myself get carried away with this streak
