Ouch. That is worse. Had this one tonight. 2nd hand of an MTT.

Blinds $10/$20 Starting stacks $1500.
I'm BB w/ QQ. 5 limps and I raise to $120 called by 2 people.
Flop is [Js]X[Ts]
Pot is $420 and I bet $400.
There is a call and an all-in. I call thinking a spade draw and I have [Qs]. Other person calls too. Triple all-in.
Cards turned over and I see I'm up against a red KJ and a QJ. I'm an 83% favorite and feeling good. Only 3 kings or 1 jack can beat me.
Guess what the turn card is. One hint: it ain't a King.

Today, I was all in in an SNG with AA vs A4 and, of course, by the river, the 2 and 3 and 5 all fell right in his lap. That's poker.

MT, you'll love this one. Last week, I saw AA and KK lose to JJ three times when a third J came. A number of times AA or KK lost to JJ. It was a week for Jacks. It happened twice in one SNG. A guy goes all in with KK against a smaller pair and 3 Jacks hit before the river. We all laughed about it. Next week...TENS.

Saw an A high flush go down today to the straight flush. I can only imagine what the guy must have felt when the chips he expected to come his way started sliding across the table. Yikes.

But, the best was yet to come. All in 99 vs AJ and 44. J of clubs on the flop, for two clubs. 4 of clubs on the turn. A club on the river. 9c was the only club to the four flush. There is justice out there, sometimes.

I love these stories, if they're told with a sense of humor. I hate 'em when there's a lot of whining.

CJ

ps--I put a guy out today when I caught a river flush. He whined about me chasing, and I said I had the odds, which I did because the kept betting small all the way. He said I should keep reading my books. (How'd he know my mom reads to me?) I went on to win the SNG. My opponent said the guy probably would be surprised I was that good.

Yeah, I'm really starting to re-think my philosophy towards re-buys since I can keep playing the best hand without fear of being drawn out and gone. Either I re-buy when I'm drawn out or I keep accumulating chips from people that want to go all-in w/ any Ace. Played 1st one in a while tonight and came in 146th out of 697. I didn't rebuy or add-on once. Last hand I went in with AQ suited and was called by 2 AK's preflop. Caught the Queen on the flop and felt good because there were only 2 Kings left in the deck. It showed up on the river.

I'm really liking this thread. Makes me feel much better at least by getting it off my chest.

Tonight 1-5 w/ AA,KK, and JJ for -11.75 BB.

Funny thing was some guy cracked my Kings w/ JJ when the board came all diamonds inlcuding a King for my set. I had to call the river in case he was bluffing, but he had the J of diamonds. Very next hand I crack his Kings with AQ when I river a spade flush. I told him that we're even now with a smile and he said "fair enough".

On a 10 session losing streak (including tournies) over the last few days for almost $200. I just keep telling myself that I'm making the right decisions and it will more than even out if I just keep doing that and then I get Aces cracked. But seriously, I'm pretty proud of myself for not going on tilt this weekend. I stopped myself short of raising with A2 suited from EP after a rush of bad hands.

The only thing worse than getting no hands is getting good hands all night that end up 2nd best.

Instead of calling this section "Low Content & Bad Beats" I advocate changing the name to "Support Group". It definitely makes me feel better and possibly play better because I can get this off my chest and see that I'm not the only one.

Being a halfway decent poker player, and I believe most of us are, I don't even think that one bad beat sets us on tilt. If that were the case, none of us would be cut out for this game. I can usually laugh a bad beat or 2 off, unless it's a big MTT where there is no 2nd chance. It's when you have that bad beat and take a second to collect yourself and tell yourself all the right things about making the right decisions and profiting and yada yada. You finally calm down and then BAM again!.......and BAM again.....and again....and again. It takes a series of beats and maybe an entire session or multiple consecutive sessions/tables to drive us to tilt.

And here is our "Support Group" in this little section of the forum where I can vent and start out fresh again with no carryover of bad feelings. So how about "Tilt Support Group" even?

IT'S FINALLY OVER.

Three more MTT loses (my money went in with the best hand all 3x) and then I started off a $1/$2 session at Absolute with this hand. (Actually it was the 2nd hand.)

[Ac][Tc] in SB and it's folded to me. I raise and get called by BB.

Flop: [7s][3d][Ad]
I bet and get called
Turn: [4c]
I bet and get called
River: [6d]
I bet and GET RAISED! 8 BB in the pot so I have to call as he turns over [5c][5d] for the runner-runner gutshot straight.

I'm left asking the Poker Gods what I have done to offend them and then spend the next hour trying to slowly recover from this hand when my savior comes along.

[Ks][9s] in CO.

One limp ahead of me, I limp, button limps, SB raises, BB folds, but everyone else calls.

4.5 BB in pot
Flop: [8c][Kh][4s]

Raiser bets, I raise, he re-raises and I once again ask the Gods why they chose to let me flop top pair when he so obviously has Aces. I have to call this down because the pot is getting so big.

7.5 BB in pot
Turn [Qh]

He bets and I call.

9.5 BB in pot.
River: [Tc]

He bets, I call. OK show me your Aces.

11 BB after the rake slide over to me as he shows...................[Kd][3h]

They say that your goal should be to win MTT's not make the money. So I've decided to be more aggressive the past couple of days. Last night in a MTT with 406 where 45 get paid, I am UTG+1 with QQ. 46 left and more than a few people with less than me, but with blinds of $400/$800 and ante's of $50 w/ a stack of $5800 I'm in trouble of being blinded out. There are 2 people with less than $1300 and I could throw it away and almost guarrantee myself the money, but of course I push here. Wouldn't you? 4 people called me and someone hits a flush on the river with AQ suited.

Tonight MTT with 41 people. 6 people left, 5 get paid. There are 2 people almost on empty and I am in 3rd place with much more than them, but about half of what the top 2 have. I get KK in MP. I raise 1/3 of my stack which is about 5XBB. Big Bliind who is chip leader doubles my raise. I go all in and he turns over AQ diamonds. Not only does he get one Ace but 2 Aces on the flop and I'm out one away from the money.

Moral of the story. Dump everything on the bubble because you want to shoot someone after 5 hours of poker with nothing to show for it.

I did it again today w/ JJ on a flop not higher than 6. One push ahead of me by small stack. I went all-in and then chip leader called. Small stack turned TT, big stack turned QQ. If I would have dumped I would have easily made the money. Instead 2 hours and then nothing. I have to stop being so aggressive and just be content with making the money. I'm destroying my tournament bankroll by going for the kill all the time. 573 people and I was 30th with 140 left. I just couldn't be content with $50 to $100 bucks, I needed $1500. I really thought about folding that one with chip leader to act behind me, but what made me push is that he only called preflop so I couldn't put him on 1 of the 3 big pairs that beat me. I figured set or fold from him.

Hit my set after weeding through 3 hours of garbage hands in the Absolute $9K Guarranteed tonight.

Pocket 10's in the BB with only $6,500 left. With blinds 1/2K I raise after 2 limpers. BB and 1 limper call. [9s]X[Ts] and I have my set. YES! With 85 people left and 54 people getting paid, I triple up. Turn is [7s]. River [8h]. I hope 1 of them doesn't have a Jack cause that would be a really SH*T*Y way to go. 1 of them didn't. They both did. Runner-runner straight draw for both of them and I'm gone.

Played one other tourny tonight. 2nd in chips after 20 minutes when I get QQ. Flop is 10 high. Only problem is chip leader had pocket 10's. What worked for him didn't for me. 4 hours of poker today and nothing.
