Heres a hand from today. Im playing $2/$4NL at Gaming Club
Im in the BB with [Qh]. MP limps then its folded the button who raises to $12. I call. Lets start there. I hate that call. MP calls also.
The pot is $38 and the flop comes [7s][4c]. I check, and it gets checked around. Hmm. What does the button have? AK? 88? Could be anything, but he doesnt like to bet

Pot still $38. The turn is the . I check, MP checks and now the button bets $20. I check raise the min. That was dumb. I dont know why I did that other than I didnt believe he had anything. I shouldve folded or raised more. MP folds and the button calls

The pot is now $118. The river is the . I still had a feeling he had AK so I checked. He made a big bet. I know I saw a black chip laying out there. I folded.

I really hate this hand. He claimed he had AJ. He may well have had [Jh]. If someone check raised me at the turn and then checked the river it would confuse the hell out of me so Im surprised he bet that much, but who knows what he really had.

Im not sure I couldve screwed this one up much worse. Comments?

I really hate the way you played it too. I don't mind your preflop call much, since it's a small open-raise from the button. If it's not suited I fold it everytime but I think KQs is good enough here to call most of the time.

The flop check is standard, but I would lead out on the turn. The 9 most likely didn't help the preflop raiser, which means he either was slowplaying the flop or more likely has missed with high cards or a low pair. If you lead out here you get a chance at the pot, and even if you get called you have a chance to either bluff the river or make your straight/flush and extract more money. Checking isn't bad either though, as long as you make the right move once he bets. I think you either have to raise to $60-70 or flat call. Folding is out of the question I think. A min raise has virtually no fold equity and you are out of position with a good chance of having K-high on the river. You got put in a tough spot on the river but you could have easily avoided it in my opinion. Once the K comes, what do you think about a blocking bet here? I think it's opponent-dependent, but if your opponent isn't aggressive enough to raise you here most of the time with nothing, then I think it's a good move.

For some reason when the king hit the river I was still thinking he had AK and didnt want to bet. After thinking about it more, I cant imagine that he had AK. I shouldve bet about half pot at the river I think.

I agree with MG that you should have lead out the turn. If you lead out it might look like you had a piece of the flop but was afraid to bet it and now you are leading into the field to take it down. Like he said, if you are called you still have solid outs going into the river.

I don't think the preflop call is that bad either. Maybe the button was just trying to take down the blinds and the limper with a somewhat marginal holding. K-Qs is a hand you can use to defend I think.
