I'd bet the snot out of the first hand, but not the 2nd. Top set on a board with 2 low cards is not as pretty as you think it is. When the 2 low cards are connected, or if there is a 2 flush out there, it's even worse. You will never be able to push out the low draws (at least, not until you start playing $100 PLO8 and up) so you have to decide if you are a fan of variance or not. If you don't mind the variance, then fire away, but a half pot bet on the flop and then seeing what the turn brings is not a terrible way to play it. If you bet half the pot on the flop and are pushed you'll have to decide if you feel lucky or not. In the ideal situation, a high card hits the turn, then you have the ability to pot it and give your low-chasing donkey the wrong odds to go fishing.

Hand1
I agree with JD I "bet the snot out of this hand" There is a good chance that your 24 is good for low and there is a good chance that your str8 is good for high. However, the worst thing that you can do it is play this hand passively and let someone take the top 1/2 from you. HU you are going to be in good shape against almost anything. In a 4 way pot you are going to be in trouble.

Pot the flop, if you get a bunch of callers slow down. Once you spike the A on the turn bet and never stop. That river check was really bad.

Hand 2
To start off I don't think that you hand is strong enough to play pre-flop and it is definitely not strong enough to call a raise with. Post flop I agree with both your play and JDs analysis. Playing this way is high variance; however, I think that it is +EV in the long run. In this situation a lot of the time you are going to be in a coin flop, but some of the time you are going to be up against a bare A2 or a lower set. In this case where the person betting the flop was the pre-flop raiser I think a bare A2 is likely so I like the raise. Because you are in a coin flip so often this is going to be high variance, because the rest of the time you will be ahead it will be +EV.

Of course it is early and I am very tired so we will see if any of this makes sense in a couple of days when I get some sleep.
