I'm a bit confused about your post. I certainly hope your back hand has more than a pair... that means that your middle and front are also pairs or worse. This is VERY weak and you should curse your luck. The back hand has to beat your middle and front.

Did I miss something? Maybe our use of front and back is different?

Yeah, I think that's all it is. I could be wrong, but we call the best hand the front hand and the worst (3 card hand) the back.

oh yeah, the pair for the 3-card hand is definitely a good play -- especially for an otherwise crappy hand.
