I kinda got flamed by the rest of the table for sucking out on this one, but I can't see playing it any other way.

AQ offsuit in the SB.

I have about 9K.

Blinds are 800/1600

It is folded all the way to me.

BB has about 18,000 or double what I have.

I push all-in.

He turns over KK.

Turn is a Q, river is an A.

He takes it pretty well, but the rest of the table is trashing me. One guy even said it was a stupid move because the only thing that calls you there is a hand that beats you.

With more chips or smaller blinds maybe I play it different, but what is the best play here? I still believe I did the right thing considering chip stacks.

If the blinds are still 10/20, that's one thing. But with the blinds are high are they are with your stack size, that's an easy push every single time. Especially when it's just you and the BB - you easily beat 90+% of any two random cards he might have.

So if he had called with KQ and lost unimproved, would the table still have said it was a bad play?

Thanks guys. Like I said, I was pretty sure that I made the right move, I just couldn't understand what they were getting so upset about. Maybe there was something that I had missed.

I barely look at the cards before pushing there. AQ is way, way better than needed. I'd fold stuff like T3o and 45s but any Ace, King, pair or two face cards = PUSH!

It makes sense when the opponent has 88...the flop comes KJ9 and he has 55. AQ is a big loser there...but I can't see the 88 calling.

Of couse he'd probably reraise preflop anyway...lol

I think you should have waited until you had 2/7 off and then went all in. Of course you push here. Good Cards don't come often so you have to capitlize on every opportunity you can. Short stacked even more so. Never listen to anyone but yourself. Even the pros don't follow there own advice. Funny thing about poker any two cards can win.

Easily the right play, it's not like you can raise and have enough chips to get away from it. Push it in and if he calls, so be it.
