Ok, I have added a statement that this story came from an old book. Obviously, ATE fans KNOW that there is no way in HELLO-O that I ever intended to pass off another's work, as my own.
After rereading my original article, I did agree that use of the term "our hero" and referring to myself as an "old timer" may have unintentionally cause people to think that I was claiming to be the person making the play.
I thought that saying "our hero" and "he" would be enough for ATE fans to know that I did not make the play.
Everyone should know, that I would have been bragging like heck, tooting my own horn, saying "ATE did this" "I" then did that.
But, this uh "person" Michagan, decided to reach his own conclusions, KNOWING NOTHING AT ALL, ABOUT ATE!
Let's not forget, that this was NOT in a book I was writing, just a lesson I was trying to teach, on an Internet board.
I do not feel that a teacher has to mention where each and every single thing he(she) teaches comes from. In the vast majority of cases, they do not even know. Although I knew that this came from an old book, not remembering the title, it could have just as easily been a play I JUST HEARD FROM SOMEONE ELSE.
Anyone reading my old articles, KNOWS that I have gone WAY OUT OF MY WAY, to credit any term, play or expression that ATE did not think of
Such as "this is a MiKe Capeletti term" "the Malmuthian concept of what do you think they think you think"
Etc. etc. etc.
THIS IS THE (large structure designed to hold back bodies of water) REASON I VERY VERY RARELY EVEN READ POKERBOOKS! Intelligent players, can come up with similar plays, and I don't want some #%^@%^@#%^ to say that I got the idea elsewhere.
The overwhelming vast majority of plays I write about (and make myself)
were discovered or actually-to my knowledge-INVENTED by myself.
However, I have learned some good material over the years, from the few good players that I respect.
AM I TO NOW HAVE TO MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF WHERE I GOT EACH AND EVERY SINGLE CONCEPT THAT I DISCUSS!!
Hey, did Thunder Keller invent the concept of the delayed bluff? No, yet he gets to write about it.
Should I have to figure out who invented the check raise?
Come ON!! really!! My mention of the story, only brought up the most basic elements, there was NO copying of the story.
All I did, was bring up a play that I felt would be educational to my readers. Had I thought of it, I probably would have been more careful, to make it 100% clear that I did not think of it.
But, I was just trying to crank out a post quickly, and didn't take the time to look it over and see that I should have done it differently.
From now on, I will have a little mention before an article, if the content is 100% ATE, or contains material from another source. If said source is known to me, I will give credit, as I have always done except this oversight.
By the way, G-money I can always write more songs, all you can do is try to steal them.
