My bad beat low content post of the day. For once it's me putting the beat on the other guy.
$50 NL at BetFred.
[Jc] and limp in EP then call a minraise from the BB. Almost everybody is in. Pot is about $7.
Flop is [9c][7h]. BB throws out a $3 continuation bet which doesn't impress me much, I call, another caller behind me, then the next guy goes all-in for his last $29. Folds back to me and it's $26 to call.
What hand do you put the guy on?
I know it's not a set because nobody plays sets like that at this site, ever.
I can't imagine it's any other super good hand because who would want to drive everybody out like that?
I've seen people show flush draws in this situation before, but there's no flush draw on the board.
I finally decide that he has exactly T8 (for some reason, 86 doesn't occur to me) and decide to call.
Nope. He has A7 for top-and-bottom pair.
I have a bunch of outs, but the way I suck out annoys him no end. Turn 8, River T, and I have the straight.
And he goes OFF on me yelling at me for being a fish and making a fishy call. I recall reading what to do about this on BTP, so I play along and call myself a fish and say how I'm swimming away with all his money, blah blah blah, just piss him off more. I have a bunch of fun with him spluttering and yelling.
What occurs to me only later is that if only a total fish makes this call with TP, then his bet is the very definition of something that should only be called by hands that beat him. Except for 97, there are really no made hands out there that can possibly call this that he beats.
