If you are suited, how many door cards of the same suit does it take to make the hand unplayable?

While I probably have a greater range of cards that are non-flush that do not brick the hand in general, its still something I could use some input on.

Right now i have been playing mono suited, but not 3 baby hands if there are 3 or less up, but tossing them after 4th if I dont hit my 4th flush card or if two or more of my suit come up.

Thoughts?

with no side possibilities, i normally stick to 2 or less of my suit out there to pursue a flush. If you had straight possibilities or high cards, then you maybe able to stretch it to 3.

Fold that hand on 3rd in my opinion. With more than 2 of your suit out you don't need to be getting involved unless you have overcards to the board as well and that is just for straight 7 stud. Playing 7 stud h/l you need to forget about drawing to shit flushes like this because even if you hit most of the time you are going to be splitting a pot instead of getting a whole pot.

In 7 stud h/l you should be playing very tight on third because your goal is to play a hand that has scooping potential or at least a low that has your likely low opponents beat in a multiway pot. You posted a hand the other day where you were involved with some crappy overpair on third I think. THE VAST majority of the time these pair hands should be hitting the muck on third. Playing overpairs that are not Aces in this game generally is bad news unless you can get it HU with just one or at most 2 players.

Stud H/L? Even if there were no clubs showing unless it was a high ante structure, I mean real high, I'd almost certainly be mucking T62.

Thanks for the advice guys. I have been trying to plug my leaks and the two situations I really have been struggling with are non-baby flush draws and 1010-KK opening pairs.
I have done a much better job of not chasing the flushes (at least if 250 or so hands today are any indication). I have been trying to play the bigger pairs only against 1 or 2 people I know will chase lows and have baby cards up (which has worked ok so far as well).

What do you consider a high ante game? Right now I'm playing .50/1 with a .25 ante.
How much should I be loosening up because of the ante (which I consider pretty high)?

This actually seems to go against your argument. With the large ante structure, even halving the % for the split, the % would still be 225%. Granted that 3rd street steals work much less often at low levels, but still.

Doesent this mean that I should be opening with the flush draws and dumping them if I dont catch a perfect or very good card because the ante structure forces me to loosen up my starting hand requirements?

I'm a bit confused here.

If I am not mistaken with the 0.05 ante it fits the Stars schedule and reducing that by 50% would put it at 100%. In reality for a split game that number could probably be dropped a little more than 100% so that only the most torturous of ante structures would dictate that you open up with alot of subpar third street games in h/l, like the Party 0.5-1.00 game. Sorry for not being real clear previously.

NP, but just to clarify, I am playing the .50/1 at party, so you are saying that I should be opening up with crap hands.

The party % on your chart is 450%, so halving it for h/l would yield 225%. Even discounting that somewhat, still at 200%, or within the range where this becomes an ok play.

Edit: just realized that the hand I posted is from FTP and not the game I am regularly playing now, hence the confusion.
