I've won some really nasty pots playing paired wraps in PLO8... I think the real key, while hand selection is important, is the betting strategy at least in the PL version of the game.

I'm not mad when I call K4s55, but if I hit my flush and don't have the low to back it up, pot control is in order. If it isn't possible to control the pot and two other people are in the hand, I'm mad when I let the second nuts get too deep. I know better.

I'm not mad if I opted to play a draw very fast and come up short, nut flush redaw, a pair, and straight draw nestled in my screwy wrap suited wrap of AJT8 gives up about half the deck against a lot of hands. I'm more mad when I don't extract the full amount and play too passive.

There are a bunch of very tricky situations that come up in O8 that aren't present in HE, and it may compound them playing it in a big bet variation, but makes the strategy that much more fun to learn. Granted I guess I could have used a few weeks at play money to really learn why you can't have the boat holding one part of double paired board.

Either, way I'm all about learning O8, because even more so than hold'em at pretty high stakes, I see some less than stellar players. PLO I never had the desire to play higher than the bottom for fun. It is a game of waiting for the nuts, waiting for the nuts, NUTS! hope they hold up seems to the total strategy. PLO8 waiting to scoop, seems far more rewarding and having the lo hand available decreases the variance if I play my hand right and come up short while holding a scooper.

If big bet this loose passive preflop tight passive post flop, I can only imagine that limit is crazy.

Limit Omaha 8 is pretty cut and dried with VERY few playable hands in my opinion preflop. In Omaha 8B the difference between hand values is much more pronounced than the differences in hand values in say limit holdem preflop. Building the pot preflop when able with superior hands is a large part of the game because usually the hands that you are facing that call you at the lower limits are big underdogs to what your holdings should be. The mathematical aspect of Omaha 8B is much more concrete post flop as well than in pretty much any other poker game you will play.

With no more games than they have at Empire 5-10 6 max tables there are a full complement of monkeys in situ. Played a short session before lunch and just wanted to vomit at the rivers I took in that short span but when all was said and done only finished down 10.00 for the session.
