If you want to take a shot at playing limit with your bankroll I would advise perhaps starting at 2-4 limit. The guidelines I posted in that thread should be enough to get you started and keep you out of much trouble while you get a good feel for the game. I would definately say stay away from any limits higher than that for the time being. I would also stay with the full ring games in the beginning. Beating low limit hold em games especially with the aid of bonuses is not that daunting of a task but beating the games soundly for a nice win rate over time is a different story just like it is for NL. As with any other poker endeavor it will just take some time and growing pains to discover what works for you. Those pretty strict guidelines I put out will help to minimize those pains alot. Good luck if you give it a go.

If you are looking to change things up from NL I would recommend you get some literature on Omaha h/l as well.

I can't remember the last time I folded top pair in limit. Actually I can. It was at Turning Stone $15/$30 I limped with QT and I bet the Q86 flop (something like that) and the button raised with QJ and the SB 3 bet with Q6 and I was like ok I give up. Other than that though I pretty much always see a showdown with top pair.
Boy, you got me confused with a man who repeats himself.

Had planned on putting in at least a two hour session this morning but at 1h15m if I would have gotten sucked out on again they would be calling Code Blue on my mouse so I shut it down.

After a good cold morning beer to settle things down hit the 5-10 tables for a short burst of fun.

A short massacre of the folks at Martins to satisfy my soul after that flurry of two outer beats I took earlier there.

Well a man can't live on fresh garlic bread and beer along, well perhaps he could but it wouldn't be as nice as adding a thick T-bone and baked potato to the mix so that is what is happening. Feeling much better than I have in a few days. Going to really try and gut out a solid month hour wise and then take a trip out west to check on the status of my house project and just to get away from the city for a little while.

God damn what a shelacking I took for a good 45 minutes or so before righting the ship and making a comeback. Found myself down about 4 C notes right out of the gate courtesy to some world class whoop ass suckouts. Did manage to knock out the one Empire bonus though so some headway was made.

I'll leave you with a dandy  This first one I was toast to a one outer anyway but look at the playa that took this one down

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with [9c], [9s].
Hero raises, MP calls, 1 fold, Button calls, 1 fold, BB calls.

Flop: (8.40 SB) [As], [9h], [Qc] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, Button calls, BB calls.

Turn: (6.20 BB) [4c] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP calls, Button raises, BB calls, Hero 3-bets, MP calls, Button calls, BB calls.

River: (18.20 BB) [Js] (4 players)
BB bets, Hero raises, MP folds, Button calls, BB calls.

Final Pot: 24.20 BB

Results in white below:
BB has Tc 8s (straight, queen high).
Hero has 9c 9s (three of a kind, nines).
Button doesn't show. (AA) Don't know why he didn't cap it off on the turn. I still felt pretty confident on the river even when getting led in to but I was sorely mistaken
Outcome: BB wins 24.20 BB.

Decided to go ahead and get an early start off to the day. Plopped down on a couple of 5-10 6 max tables to the usual fish suspects. Made a little but not getting alot of love with AA the last few days at the SH tables. I think I am 1 or 2 for 6-7 or something pretty shitty like that. Got them back to back this session and won one and then lost to J5 the next one who flopped a 5 raised me and called my three bet and then hits the other one on the turn, NH SIR.

Finished up the second Empire bonus and lost a little bit in the process due mainly to one hand where I get crushed by a guys one outer on the river in a big pot but what are you going to do. I also found out about an additional reload at Martins. The code is decreload for 50% up to 200 euro bonus. It has a 30 day time limit to clear and clears at 10X. Don't quote me on this because I do not know for sure but I suspect that it clears on top of all the other bonuses just like the previous reloads. I only did 100 euro of the bonus for 1000 VIP points because that is about how many I have to knock off to finish the initial deposit bonus so might as well kill two birds with one stone.

I have just been getting annihilated every time I have AA in the 6 max games. Here I phucked myself by betting river as I was almost positive the guy had KK but then he checks and next guy checks so I though what the fuck maybe my hand is good, nothing doing  as I got hit by not one but 2 two outers in the same hand

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP with [Ah], [As].
1 fold, Hero raises, 2 folds, SB 3-bets, BB calls, Hero caps, SB calls, BB calls.

Flop: (12 SB) [Tc], [4d], [2c] (3 players)
SB bets, BB calls, Hero raises, SB 3-bets, BB calls, Hero caps, SB calls, BB calls.

Turn: (12 BB) [9s] (3 players)
SB bets, BB raises, Hero calls, SB calls.

River: (18 BB) [Kh] (3 players)
SB checks, BB checks, Hero bets, SB raises, BB calls, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 24 BB

Results in white below:
SB has Kd Ks (three of a kind, kings).
BB has 9c 9d (three of a kind, nines).
Hero has Ah As (one pair, aces).
Outcome: SB wins 24 BB.

This little jewel made up for some of it though :D

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is BB with [4c], [5c].
UTG calls, 3 folds, SB raises, Hero calls, UTG calls.

Flop: (6 SB) [4d], [2c], [3c] (3 players)
SB bets, Hero raises, UTG calls, SB calls.

Turn: (6 BB) [Ac] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, UTG calls.

River: (12 BB) [9s] (2 players)
Hero bets, UTG calls.

Final Pot: 14 BB

Results in white below:
Hero has 4c 5c (straight flush, five high).
UTG has Tc 9c (flush, ace high).
Outcome: Hero wins 14 BB.

Mother phucker! I just came out of a damn blood bath 4 tabling at Martins on 2 2-4 and 2 3-6 6 max tables. Played against one of the all time worse players I have ever faced and that is saying ALOT but this guy just kept rivering and rivering and rivering gutter, 2 outers 3 outers etc etc etc. He was up about 600 euro in the span of 1 hour on the 3-6 table. I managed to regroup and recovered most of the loss with the help of a +150.00 pot on the 3-6 table but damn!!!!!!!!!!!!! On a good note in 1h20m I knocked out 350 VIP points which amounts to over 100.00 of bonus so not all was lost.

Empire 5-10 6 max limit, 202 hands, 95.65

Piers,

I am doing quite well at the 1/2 SH tables. Those are a goldmine. They keep calling and calling. It´s only about waiting for good hands and pushing them!

I am playing quite looser than your recommendations because most of my opponents are just too damned loose and A-rag is enough to see a SD most of the times (even though I dont do it).

I dont know if it is because I am at lower stakes but I think limit is easier than NL. What do you think?

I made $32 three tabling fr about 2 hours.

My suggestions are definately much too tight for a SH table. I am running right at 23% VIP over the last couple of thousand hands which perhaps is a little tight on SH tables but it is working pretty well for me as the competition is pretty shitty.

I am enjoying the change over to primarily short handed games as the full ring games at the levels I was playing were not very good by and large. It seems that the short handed tables nearly always have at least one super donkey on them.

I would not say that limit is easier than NL but that it uses a somewhat different set of skills and perhaps those skills seem to fit better with your particular game. I am glad that you are running well, hope it continues.
