Hand 1 I like betting again. Sets up a possible river bluff if you both miss your likely straight outs, and your 8 may even be good at this point. Plus, it puts pressure on something like a weedy overpair (which is well ahead of you here) to fold.
Hand 2 read is important but I can see checking to be a decent play as you want to let him see a river if he's drawing to a non-nut flush for obvious reasons.
