Should the fact that he cold called my pot bet on the pre-flop and flop have made me slow down?

Pre-Flop
I don't make that raise OOP. OOP you aren’t going to be able to control the pot after the flop so try and keep it small pre-flop.

Flop
This action is opponent dependant. Against an aggressive opponent I will check call, and lead against a player that knows how to fold. Most players at this level are loose passive so they will not bet if checked to on the turn. Against these players I usually bet.

Turn
You hit your low you have to push now.

River

My main consideration when it comes to raising is if I have a pulling or a pushing hand. In case you are not familiar with those terms, a pulling hand is one in which you want to play a large family pot and a pulling hand is one that plays better with fewer people. A23s is a good example of a pulling hand and AA4 is a good example of a pushing hand.

Here is a quick breakdown of what I am raising.

Few limpers
I raise almost nothing. With pulling hands I don’t want to push anyone out of the pot and with pushing hands raising isn’t going to push enough people out so I am looking to limp raise.

A couple of limper
Will pulling hands I use PAHud to determine if I am going to raise. If the fish are playing to my right and have already limped I will raise (but not full pot, remember you want them to call). If the fish are to my left and therefore haven’t acted I will limp.

With pushing hand I usually raise pot but again I look at PAHud.

LP with lots of limpers
I will raise 3x BB with pulling hands and full pot with pushing hands.

Blinds
I call with pulling hands and raise with pushing hands if I think I can get HU or 3 way.

Note: playing this way really defines your hand for anyone who is paying attention. The good news is that at low levels nobody is paying attention; however, when you move up you are going to have to disguise your play more.

I raise that from the blinds personally. Other than that contentious point I think everyone is more or less agreed you played it fine.
