With your eight out, two clubs out, and the A and J left to act behind you, I don't see fourth street. Then again, I play pretty tight.

If you want to play this hand, you should raise on 3rd street to attempt to thin the field. If the A calls behind or three bets, there is no danger of you being out of position on 4th street without catching a 9, and obviously you should be aggressive on 4th street if that happens.

On fourth street, your call is marginal unless you know for a fact that the AK will not check-raise.

What would you have done if the J64 bets on 5th street? Your gutshot is live, but the high coordinated cards in AKJ are pretty scary, but he has been non-aggressive. He is probably just a bad player.

Of all your plays I like the raise on sixth street. I can't give the AKJK credit for anything that I can't see, especially not another K. You are probably ahead when you raise on 6th street.

I don't like the raise on 7th street. A non-aggressor the whole way, 3453 bets in to you. He sees that you have 9658 up and were aggressive on 6th street. He probably puts you on a made straight on 6th street. I make the crying call, expecting to see his boat.

I have to echo most of emmasdad's suggestions. This hand should hit the muck on third street or if you decide to play it you have to raise. In 7 stud you have to be aggressive many, many times when you are in a hand even if you think you are behind if you have the chance to knock out other opponents. Playing 7 stud properly is not for the timid. On the river you just call there as he paired his door card on 6th so he may very well have boated up on you.

i agree with the other guys except about raising it on 3rd (assuming the other 8 isn't out). Its a muck on 3rd. Don't chase a pair unless it can hold up on its own easier when one of them is showing. 8's and 9's are my borderline raise on 3rd.

You are looking to see if your outs are dead if you chasing a draw or trips. For example, if you have 3 clubs, you want no more than 2 of your suit showing. If you have 789, you want to look for T's and 6's primarily.
