Damn mosquito woke me up so I decided I would hit the tables for a very early morning session. Found a juicy seat with a guy that had not raised 1 time in over 200 hands and got two to his left in the BB. Won a doozy of a pot nearly right off the bat but didn't fair so well in the other two tables so a very modest win before the guy went bust and the games were not that good so I bailed out as well.
Since I post quite a few hands were I get shafted figured I post one were the perfect storm went in my favor.

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed)

Preflop: Hero is Button with [Kh], [Ah].
UTG calls, MP raises, Hero 3-bets, SB calls, 1 fold, UTG calls, MP calls.

Flop: (13 SB) [8h], [6h], [Jd] (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, MP bets, Hero calls, SB calls, UTG calls.

Turn: (8.50 BB) [Td] (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, MP bets, Hero calls, SB raises, UTG calls, MP 3-bets, Hero calls, SB caps, UTG calls, MP calls, Hero calls.

River: (24.50 BB) [Qh] (4 players)
SB checks, UTG checks, MP checks, Hero bets, SB calls, UTG calls, MP calls.

Final Pot: 28.50 BB

Results in white below:
SB has 9s Qs (straight, queen high).
UTG has 8d 7h (one pair, eights).
MP has Tc Th (three of a kind, tens).

LOL. Man, ya gotta love mizors like the one who barned along when he was drawing stone cold dead. However, if your ace-king was offsuit, then i would have to upgrade this hand from garden variety NIHAN status to titest-hand-ever status. Oh well, you dont play good enough for that, though! Anyways, nihan! A 28BB pot is always welcome in my book.

God damn the pushing man. Just took some brutal asswhippings again on some great tables. Managed to claw my way back to respectability but muther phucker. One guy to my right was raising 99% of the pots whether first to raise or not so I was in good position to isolate him but everytime I had AK or something of that nature he would suck out with his 64o. It wasn't pretty. Did manage to clear another good chuck of the Martins bonus and have only about another 1.5 hours or so to knock out the remaining portion. All in all Martins has been a very rewarding site. I will have gotten 1100 euros in bonus for roughly 3064 qualifying raked hands, now that is some nice stuff.

Damn the asswhippings with my rockets in the 5-10 SH game is just on a phenonmenal pace. 12 times since 1 January with 7 losses, mostly HU. Nice loss totaling 202.00 with them. But can't complain too much as I am still running at over 5 BB/100 in over 3K hands.

AA vs. 22 turns a set
AA vs. 99, KK flop safe, turn 9 river K
AA vs. J5s flop 5 turn 5
AA vs. K9o flop K9J
AA vs. 53s flop 642
AA vs. J9o flop 9 river J
AA vs. QJs flop K104 2 suit, rivers flush

Party Poker 5/10 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed)

Preflop: Hero is Button with [Ac], [Ah].
UTG raises, 2 folds, Hero 3-bets, 2 folds, UTG calls.

Flop: (7.40 SB) [9h], [8h], [5h] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.70 BB) [2s] (2 players)
UTG bets, Hero raises, UTG 3-bets, Hero caps, UTG calls.

River: (12.70 BB) [8s] (2 players)
UTG checks, Hero bets, UTG raises, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 16.70 BB

Results in white below:
UTG has 2d 2h (full house, twos full of eights).
Hero has Ac Ah (two pair, aces and eights).
Outcome: UTG wins 16.70 BB.

Actually getting up to a kennyesque type of weekly hours input average after a slow start to the month  Thinking about calling it a day though as I am just not much interested in playing any more as I am getting the hankering for some cold ones and a relaxing evening doing nothing except perhaps reading some more of Dr. Hughes novel.

Good luck on the pork dish Piers. I know you're gonna love it. Although I'm not a smoker either, I have always had an urge to try a good cigar. Probably just because I like the smell of them and that the movies always make them look cool. I actually almost lost that urge when the Clinton/Lewinsky thing came out. How does one tell if they have a "good" cigar or not?

I don't know how to tell a good one yet but the regular ones here are less than 0.10 and the ones I bought today are 1.50  so if price means anything these ought to be at least 15 times as good as the ones my wife smokes to invoke the spirits.

If the smell of the blended ingredients is a portent to the culmination then it should be damn good. I have it marinating now. I will let you know the final analysis but I suspect that is will be a very nice one.

The Puerco Pibil turned out so so. The pork was very soft but it wasn't very flavorable. Perhaps this was a result of only marinating it 3 hours instead of longer. It was definately edible and the women seemed to like it very much but I was not satisfied with it. Perhaps I will try it again with goat as the spices made a very nice combination but for whatever reason that wasn't carried over to the pork. But I am a pretty picky chef so maybe I am being a little over critical.

I used the habanero and the banana leaves to wrap it as welll as they are easy to get here.

I am nowhere near a "pro" chef Alex  I just like cooking and eating good stuff and trying different recipes. Try searching for the orange coriander pork recipe. It is easy to fix and doesn't require anything difficult to get.

You're much braver than I am Piers. I know how hot habaneros are so I substitute the jalapeno's for them instead. Still gives a little heat and plenty of chili flavor but doesn't scald the inside of your mouth for days afterwards. :D

Well grad school is a pretty good place to start learning. That is where I did my training in southern Louisiana while at USL. Down there learning how to cook is just a rite of passage as it seems that most folks know their way around the kitchen or grill down there. Also helps in wooing those undergrad and grad school women over to your crib if you can rustle up a couple of different treats. I had REAL good success with the shrimp fettucini back in the day  . I would suggest you give that one a go as it is pretty easy to prepare.
