I dont know if anyone else has noticed this were they play but in Cali it seems that every casino that spreads omaha spreads a limit O8 game. O8 is a game I really like and have gotten pretty good at. But my question is O8 is an even more complicated game than omaha high, so why do so many people like it? It maybe that people dismiss the high end of the game and like the idea that they can win half the pot without making a high hand. This also explains the way a lot of people play O8.

So is that what happened to 2-7 triple draw? I saw it scheduled, but it never aired.

Nortonesque,

That's exactly what happened to the deuce to seven event - sent straight to the vault.

Braichek,

Well obviously it was all you - I'm just along for the ride. :)

Rhound50,

They have two ways to make a hand. Woo-hoo. Seriously though, the game is vastly underrated - it's almost impossible for a good player to lose in a california omaha 8 game. Simply play tighter than your opponents and you can hardly lose.

TUP, I agree in some respects. The O8 games at one of the casinos around here are actually very tight. I usually look for 5 more people seeing the flop including the blinds and that is usually a good loose table. I really love O8, it is one of the worst played games around and if you play even decently well it can be very profitable when you find the looser games. Nothing better than someone calling 3 bets with nothing but the second nut low draw and a low pair.

Bay 101 has a half kill 4/8 Omaha 8 game (nine handed) where 7+ people see the flop ever hand. It's usually raised preflop at least once, and it there is any low on the flop, usually it's capped(one bet and three raises at the room). I see people calling three bets on the turn with just an overpair hoping to hit a set or FH. O8 is a game that just brings out the gambler in most players. And you have to incorporate it into home games against those who love it and have no understanding of it. Even my friends who have a good understanding of hold'em really are clueless about the weakness or power of their hands at certain times...but everyone wants to see a flop.

TUP, you have about 450 bucks to go to get to your goal? Slacker.

I have to go to Vegas and play...seems like a kick in the pants.

Well the week is up and I made my goal of $5K.... $5275 to be exact in 48 hours of play.

This next week is going to be rather slow for me because I have so much to do regarding the school. Good luck to all of you this week.

Well it's been over a week since I've played till today and it seems I still remember how to play. A bit aggravating today though... The game was great - truly outstanding and I'm being impatient. I tried to reel myself in but after three hours was still finding myself playing impatiently and making sub-optimal decisions. That's a tough call for me... I was still making +EV plays but they weren't optimal plays and I know better so I decided to leave rather than continue getting aggravated with myself - was hoping for a longer session today but sh*t happens.

Why didn't you take the addon? With more chips a good player can do so much more damage. Don't you think?

In the past I have made it a habit to add-on no matter what the situation was. Maybe you know something I don't.
