hi, i'm new here but i was wondering if any successful omaha hi players could give me some tips
okay so i won a couple big rebuy no limit holdem tournaments 2 day's in a row so I had a bout $2500 bankroll more than I usually do. Omaha is very popular at the club I play at, so i decided let me spend $200 and take a shot at learning the game even just for fun, after all it was other people's money. 5/5 pot limit was the game and I was expecting to go broke, as was everyone else at the table as I took forever to read each hand, and they all new I never played the game before... I watch a few rounds of hands on the rail before I jumped in. I saw full houses losing to bigger houses all the time, and all players making pot sized bets. I decided my strategy was going to be bet the pot every time I have the nuts, and check or fold other wise, and limp in with every hand unless I have trips in my hand. I bought in for only $200 and most every other player had atleast between $500 and $1500 in front of them. I flopped the nut straight the first hand and bet the pot. I got 2 callers and the next card paired the board, so I sighed and folded to the bets on the turn. I paiteintly waited, throwing in $5, then folding on the flop.. Even If i flopped the 2nd nut full house... I finally got the nuts and managed to triple up! After a few hours I ended up cashing out for $700.. not bad. For the next 4 days I played every night, buying in for no more than $300.. most others bought in for the max $1000.. and managed to cash out with between $1200 and $1700 each night.. So I decided WOW I can't beleive I picked up this game so easy! i'm never playign holdem again.. and spent a couple days not playing just reading up on as much strategy guides as I can, beleiving I can only get better..
So I tried to follow what I read, applying all these strategies.. good starting hands.. good draws.. bluffing.. raising preflop with suited aces.. reading opponents.. instead of just playing my card , as my game is apperntly poor according to all of them....... now I cannot win.. I'm going broke and can't do anything.... I can't back in my game what's my problem..?
Now i'm the guy that seems to be rebuying for $500 every six hands, when that used to be the poor guy that kept paying me off chasing straight-flushes, three pair looking for a boat, and betting his Kings full of Jacks into my Kings full of queens....
