one thing people might find interesting is how much equity even a few outs gives you.
if the pot is 2000 and you bluff your last 1000 into it, if you are on a pure bluff and get caught your equity is 0. if you have only 4 outs on the flop with two cards to come you will win around one time in 5 or six or so. that means that in the long run (which will never get there in tournaments but is still usefull for theoretical discussion)
thats like a 600 buck rebate on your 1000 dollar bluff if you get caught as far as equity is concerned. and that just for a lousy gutshot on the flop.

this is obviously an oversimplified example that dosent calculate anything exactly, or redraws but it illustrates the point that you should rarely bluff for a large percentage of your chips on a complete bluff.

Yes, this is very important. With the advent of 24/7 internet tournaments, don't think that you cannot get a long run !!

ATE was talking to "Hans "tuna" Lund last year, and he told me he had played like 300 tournaments (multi table) in about two months. Anyone who has ever seen Hans work, you know he works HARD. So, I'm sure this figure is correct.



But, the message is good. Even a gutterball straight draw semi bluff, is FAR better than a total bluff. Now, if you have a huge stack, and the bluff is not more than 1-15th or so of your stack, it can be a good play, in and of itself, PROVIDING that the amount of the bet is not so small, that it has no chance of working.

If you bet 2000, into a 10000 pot, YOU''RE GOING TO GET CALLED (almost every time)



But, if you have 150,000, and bet 7000 into a 10000, pot, it can be a good play (in a tournament) Watch out for bluffing, in situations where the opponent can just buy more chips.

Look for situations, where the person CANNOT buy more. In live games, if you know someone is on a short bankroll, Wife won't let 'em buy more, etc.
