It's been awhile since I last visited this place. I've been off poker for awhile, the reason beeing I lost a good 1000$ (that I used a long time and alot of hard work to earn) in a relatively short time. I started loosing and I started to get uncertain and insecure about my skills, which needless to say is a recipe for doom.

But I still think I've got what it takes to earn some $$ in this game, and I feel ready to play again. The problem is I don't know where to start. First, the BR:

I got 200$ at Party, and about 250$ at Pokerstars. I've played hundreds of SNG's, hours and hours of NL at both full ring and 6max. One thing that bothers me is that I tend to play a bit to reckless at limits below what I got used to. Playing 25$ 6max I don't respect the chips enough. But I don't have the bankroll to play at higher limits.

I saw Ice have had some success with a shortstack system, I wonder if this is the way to go? Start easy playing real tight (as my poker confidence is still fragile) and earn steadily some $$ then in time i can start playing the higher limits.

Another thing is that I no longer have the overview of which sites are out there, and what bonuses I can take advantage of.

So bottom line, if you had 450$ and wanted to slowly build a bankroll in a 'safe' way to get reaquainted with poker, what would you do?

I would deposit my $400 with pacific, get their free $100 bonus, cash out the $400 again and play vs the worst poker players on the net with my free $100.. does this still work btw

You could play the $50 tables with the main BR but you would have to buy-in short - say 40% - that gives you enough flexibility to play some poker (calling raises with pairs etc) but never imperil your roll. At that buy-in level you are fireproofed against tought decisions - overall it's +EV to push TPTK with a 40% stack so you can stop having to double-guess yourself all the time if your confidence is low.

If you double up - move tables.


The alternatives are to play $25 tables with full buy-ins or to pure short stack it on the $50's of course.

Learn how to play Omaha 8B and play the 0.50-1.00 limit games on Party. You have the BR for that and if you can't beat that game for a pretty tidy BB/100 you are probably just not much of a poker player. I really don't know of a safer low limit, low bankroll starter (without looking at bonuses) to get a person going than this game.

I had never played limit Omaha 8B before in my life. I read this thread: . I owned the games. It is insanely easy to beat and all it takes is time, patience, and a little knowledge. Read the omaha forum of this site and you're set.

Thanks for all the replies. And thanks for the tip excession, turns out Pacific still have that offer so now I have 100$ more. However, the site sucks and it's only possible to play 1 (one!) table at the time. So a shortstack try is out of the question there. As is playing low limits, I'm not gonna sit playing one table. The only thing I can think of is playing 6max, that requires some attention. But they don't even have that. Only full ring at those limits. And I don't like limit. I'm actually tempted to take my 100$ of bonus money and gamble at the higher limit tables. I could shortstack the 400NL tables

As to playing Omaha, I appreciate the suggestion piers, but I think I'm gonna listen to black knight and keep away. I don't think now is the time to learn a new game.

So that leaves 100$ of bonusmoney at pacific I don't know where to invest..
And 474$ in my Neteller account, which I'll either continue bonuswhoring with or deposit at some site and do a shortstack run... I think.
