PokerPlex 12 limit, 304 hands, -8.00, 1h20m
PokerRoom 24 limit, ca. 140 hands, 114.00, 1h
PokerRoom 36 limit, ca. 60 hands, -5.00, 35m
Empire 510 limit, 135 hands, -13.00, 35m
Paradise 12 limit, 53 hands, 38.50, 20m
BTP tourny: -11.00, 2h50m
Bonus: 50.00
Rake return: 2.71
Total: 168.21
TIme: 6h20m

Worked on Pokerplex after midnight to finish up with the Cryptos for the month. Worked just a little at PokerRoom this morning. I still have nearly 600 points to knock off there for that 150.00 bonus. I really hate that site. If I have just a momentary internet glitch I get kicked off the table.

Just played a little 510 limit at Empire and the games are really dry. Lots of Rocky McRocks and several tight aggresives at each table. I suppose a solid player picking his spots could do fine there but I think that 510 limit is a stopping point for many people trying to make a living at internet poker and they play decent for the most part. I believe that either playing 36 or stepping up to 1020 would be much better for a solid player either way.

Going to take a little break and watch a movie before battling the BTP NL studs in a couple of hours:)

Well managed to finish on the bubble in the BTP tourny. Played pretty well but made one bad call near the end and that is usually all it takes to do you in in a NL tourny. But I had fun anyways, have to get them next month.

Morning
God I hate pokerroom. I need about another 1100 hands to clear that bonus at 12 limit. About 4.5 hours of 4 tabling. I think I am just going to bite the bullet and try to knock that out today and be done with that site.

Afternoon
Tried to work some more on Pokerroom but the last go around of 24 limit two of my tables just froze up while the other two are working. As of now I am still sitting at those 2 unable to do anything. Guess I will just have to wait until tomorrow to finish this bonus off as I just can't take anymore Pokerroom today.

On another note I was just notified that a grant that my friend wrote at the Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) for botanical research in Peru has been accepted by the Moore Foundation. It is a multimillion dollar grant and he has included me for a small part of it for writing a guide to the Bryophytes (mosses, liverworts, hornworts) of lowland Peru among other things including ecological research in some Andean cloud forest areas where I have done some previous work. My contract is starting on March 1 so I will be taking a hiatus from full time poker playing to deal with my other love of botany for quite a while. This is a very nice opportunity for me to make some significant inroads in my area of expertise in South America where much work remains to be done without having to answer to a bunch of beaurocrats telling me how to do my job. I still plan on playing poker particularly on the weekends but will be putting in a good amount of time especially in the beginning of this project to get things rolling along. I will finish up this month of the journal though and continue to contribute here as time permits. Hopefully some insights have been gained into the opportunities that are to be had playing lower limit poker online as well as to some guidelines as how to best obtain those goals.

I have enjoyed posting daily and I think it has helped my game a little as well. Hopefully it has helped some of you as well also.

Good luck piers!

I hope you still stop by to share wisdom; it has helped my game immensely!
If you're gonna play trash, expect it to get taken out.

(I hate those people who quote themselves, but that's one of my original lines).

No mas pokerroom. Just lost a 120+ pot at 36 on a damn gut shot after I flopped the straight. Just a horrendous day and only thanks to clearing the bonus am I up.

Well on a better note I grilled some shrimp and steaks to go with some roasted potatoes, corn and garlic bread with several cold cervezas so not all is lost.

Well decided to take a small shot at 3060 limit and managed to win 3 hands in one round and left with a 456.00 profit. Bankroll not near sufficient to play here as of yet but decided to take a shot with a 500.00 stop loss and it worked out fine. Don't try this at home

Think I am going to start playing 510 more regularly now. Today when I played there were some horrendous players in the games which contrast to the last couple of times I have played 510 in the early morning/afternoon.

Hey Piers,

Good luck with the project.

I have a question for you?

What do you look for in table selection and how seriously do you take it?

I am now playing 3/6 but up till now (especially on Party/Empire) I just jump at the first tables going figuring they are all as bad as the rest. I know I should be more professional about this but sadly I am flawed.

Oh, and great journal.
