I played live for the first time in over a month. I played the 2/4 $200 max at Sycaun. Live poker still hates me apparently.

First hand I play. MP who is a solid play that I have played with before raises to $17 which is his standard raise. I look down at KK. I raise to $60, utg call after limpinf. He is a calling station who I have played with before. Original raisor thinks for a couple seconds and calls. Flop is 932 with 2 hearts. CS checks, other raisor push for his last $160. I am pretty sure at this point he has QQ or JJ. I repush, utg thinks and thinks and folds AK face up. Like I said calling station. I was right on with my read he has QQ. Turn is a Q and I miss my one outter on the river. Total pot approximatly $500.

Hand #2. I limp from MP with 77 and the flop is 5 or 6 way. Flop comes down Q75 with 2 diamonds, it checks to me on the button. I bet $40. Mp raises all in for $110 total. I call, he has 68d, turn is the 3d, river pairs the Q and I resuck out to win. Pot size Approximatly $250

Hand #3: I have 88 this time in MP UTG raises to $20, short stack who starts the hand with $110 calls. Raisor start the hand with $400 and I cover. Flop is 1083 rainbow. Raisor bets $40, mp moves all in. I call, raisor thinks about it and folds. Short stack double fucks me on this one, the raisor said he had AA, short stack has 1010. Set over set again with me on the low end and I didnt even get a chance to build a sidepot with AA to atleast get some one my money back.

Its about damn time, thats all I can say. After a week from hell I took my last midterm this morning and decided to go play some cards. The lucky lady game was as bad as I had remebered. Couple of nice hands.

Hand 1: I limp utg with AA, the agro guy who has been raising like crazy raises to $25. BB moves all in for $150. I repush. Agro player folds my AA holds up vs KK.

Hand 2: I am the BB with KK. UtG raises to $30. Folds to me I call, blinds fold. Flop is K67. He pushs, I call he has QQ.

Hand 3: I am very prod of this one. I raise from the button with AQc. BB solid tight player makes it $50 one caller to me. Flop is A62. Bb pushs for his last $150. Folds to me, I really didn't think he had AK, he was to weak tight preflop to reraise OOP, I really think he has KK or QQ. I call he has KK.

Hand 4: I am up against the table jackass who I was dying to bust. I hate arrogent people at the poker table and this guy just wouldnt shut up. I am the BB with 56h. Villian min raises from UTG. 3/4 callers to me. I call flop is 789, cha ching. I check villian bets $50, LOL AA or KK???? I put him all in. He takes his time and I do my unibomber impression by hiding in my sweatshirt hood. He says "I know what you have." So I said, " Ok than hurry up and fold already." He calls with AA, and is drawing dead on the turn.

Funny think about this session was it could have been so much better. I called a bunch of raises with PP and couldnt hit a set. There was one kid 2 players to my right who was terrible and had $800 in front of him I must have called 5 of his raises with PP. I love live play. Online is nice because I can get in a lot more hands but live is so much easier. Looking someone in the eye it is so easy to know what people have. Totals for lucky lady session +$781 in 5.75 hrs.


Then the real "fun" begins. I went and played the SDSU home game that I play a lot and lets just say I think I used all my good karma up.

Hand 1: I raise AA to $14 flop us 885 rainbow. I decided to check behind on the flop. Turn is a 9, Jared pushs all in fir $45. I call he has QJo and rivers his gutty.

Hand 2: Very next hand I look down at KK. I want to make it look like I'm steaming so I raise to $10. Mitch calls and of course there is a A on the flop and he has AQ.

Hand 3: I played for another 2 hrs without winning a hand and am down to $35. Mitch raises UTG with 910h. Folds to me I look down at KK. I push, he calls. Glop is 55 . Turn is the river is the .

That was the end of the home game for me, lost my $100 buy in in less than 2 hrs. I have had some bad runs bit I dont think I have ever gone 0 for 3 in that short a time. Oh well shit happens, still made just under $700 for the day.

Hand 1-- Do you ever just call there with your AA hoping the Agro calls? Or do you always try to isolate?

In hand 1, I do sometimes try to islotate the agro. It really depends on the situation. If I am a set of 2 seats away from the agro, and he raises I usually know how many players are going to be calling. If it folds back to me I'd consider it assuming that no one in between us looks like they are going to call. This live game is so freakin loose preflop that I do it very rarely. Usually what would happen in that case is Agro raises to $20- $25, 3-5 people call and I push all in. Win $60 $150 without having to see a flop. In hand 2 I did something very similar with KK. Another major consideration is if agro is also agro on the flop, since I am oop I dont want to check and then have agro check behind.

This has been a theme throughout my journal so I'm going to touch on it a little more. I have really been under control with my emotions for the last couple days. A big win on thursday helped. I was sitting at a $50 NL table on staffpoker today and I called a guys river bet with AK A high. I knew he has AQ or AJ. He leads $9 into a 10$ pot after checking the flop and calling my turn bet. I was right and decent pot. Not that I want to sound to much like Kenny here but I am damn good at this game sometimes. When I'm on my A game there are very few people that play as well as I do. The thing that is still holding me back is me. My A game goes away away way to freakin easily. I have been reading Icemans post for quite a few years now and his selfcontrol has always really impressed me. His level of play never really seems to change when things arent running well, this is something I need to strive for. The best winning players arent always the absolute best players but instead they are they are the guys that play very good solid poker all the time and almost never bring their C game. To quantify this a little more, I am not a tilt a whirl. I dont start pissing off chips after one bad beat like I did in the past, but I always try to be the best at anything I do and my mental game is holding me back a little in right now.
