Hey everyone, this is my first post here. I am a regular poster on UPF (username 'zach jiganti') and I finally decided to join here after lurking for a few weeks. I recognize quite a few people here, including iceman5, who unfortunately I haven't seen on UPF lately.

So I have seen a few topics on the subject, but I want to discuss a specific hand I had a few days ago in a 55$ 10 seat SnG on UB. It was 5 handed, and I had 2800 in chips in the BB. Blinds were 150/300, and the chip stacks of the others were as follows: UTG-850, Cutoff-2200, Button-3800, SB-5350.

UTG lead-pushes. Cutoff thinks for about 10 seconds, and pushes himself. Button uses most of his time up, and just calls 2200. The SB takes about fifteen second before pushing all-in. I look down and of course find KK.

Here's my thinking. Obviously UTG cannot be put on much of a hand with an M of about two, and even the Cutoff can have a modest AQ or TT, even worse perhaps. Of course either of them could've found aces, but realistically these are their minimum holdings. Now here's where we see the two definite monsters. The button's "just" call tells me he wants more action. But is he able to get away from it after SB pushes? I doubt he's got worse than QQ; maybe AK. SB has at least QQ- almost definitely KK or AA. He's folding AK here, he has played solid. But looking at the payouts, I think that if the small blind pushes that perhaps UTG would be able to get away, looking at being able to cash here. What do you think?

I definitely would want no part of this. I get out of the way, let the dust settle and then see where I am. At best, you'll be headsup, which is what you're playing the whole tournament to get to. At worst, you'll still be 5-handed -- more likely, three- or four-handed -- but you'll be in pretty good shape against a couple of crippled stacks.

So you look down and find KK, where is your monitor?

Very interesting situation. If you wanna play this hand you have to win because their is not an interesting side pot scenario, only if you got second best and small stack has best hand.

You can only play this when you are certain or almost that there is no AA out there.
almost other situations you have 50% chance to win the hand. Asuming you are up against hands like 1010, AK,AQ,QQ
If one has AA you only have 10 % to win.

How hard it is you have to fold here. I would really think about it 2 but let it go. If I had 4 beers and was on winning streak I would call but that's why you don't win in the long run drinking beer.

First of all, I don't think the SB needs as big a hand as people think to push here. He expects button to fold to stay alive. All he really needs is to have a better hand than CO. CO could really have a wide range here...AT+, any pair. I could really see some people making this play as SB with JJ+ and AQs+. Granted, QQ+ and AK are most likely by a good margin, especially if he is solid as you say.

I would probably fold here as well, but I don't think calling is as bad as you might think. Even if you call and lose, you are likely ITM.

A more interesting question though would be what would you do if you looked down and saw AA with a) your current chipstack? b) a chipstack equal to the SBs? and c) 400 chips?
